Agree OS, but we are still at the top, and so we are still AUTOMATIC promotion candates. All of you points are valid, but I'm trying to put a positive gloss on it. So easy I know-one more game in fact- to get knocked off the top. Fortunately, all those around us- Hull excluded- seem to be siffereing from our problem, so I suppose it could all boil down to which team snaps out of our current Two good results could easily change everything, for any team.

I suppose you're right, Lancer. We are 'candidates'. I can add a bit more gloss for you too. If we beat Sheff Wed next week, we will have taken 8 points from the last four games. That's promotion form. OS.

I'm making the same grudging 'I suppose so' noises as OS - of course a couple of good results and some genuine form (don't care if it's ugly as hell at this stage, sorry kinnell) can change everything. It's the rationalisations that it's going to be ok really, everyone else is no better and so on that I can't handle, they so often come just ahead of things going tits up.

Sal, I don't care if we have the luck of the Irish or manage to scrape through with bleeding fingernails....just so long as we don't throw away the best chance we've had for 24 years. But, I agree with you on your intitial post, we don't even look play-off candidates at the moment. Obviously, even if we carry on playing as we are now, barring an absolute disaster, we should make the play-offs. I won't be backing us to win them though. OS.

If you look at our remaining fixtures, to have four of the bottom five sides to play would make you think we should go up automatically. If we don't we'll have no-one to blame but ourselves.
Having said that our form against the lower ranked teams is not good but we'll surely never get a better chance.
Wins v Colchester, Leicester, Coventry and Sheff Weds and draws v Bristol C and Palace would stand us in good stead. Let's hope Lawrence and Fuller come roaring back for the final push!

think your forgetting that those fixtures against the bottom four sides is goinb be hard, they are fighting for their lives, i just hope stoke find that fight in themselves to get results, certainly our last dozen performances say not! we seem to be lacking fight, creativity and finishing, lets hope we didnt peak too soon

Smudge ,bristol city/watford / west Brazil have all been as bad mate,so no need to panic imo! P22, That's kinda my point though. We shouldn't be staying at the top by relying on other team fucking things up all the time, we should be making our own case for promotion. There is just no way someone isn't going to burst out of this slumber, no way at all, and it HAS to be Stoke City. I'm not panicking as such (more scratching my head in amazement at one of the most feeble promotion races in history) but I think we all know, in our heart of hearts, that six more games like the last six will see us fail. Hull are climbing and either Bristol City, Watford or West Brom WILL get their act together if we don't. I genuinely think we're good enough but we have to show that we are... sooner rather than later.

Smudge, what happened to the 'fooking'. You've let yourself down big style there. I take it you're a tad upset at our performance. Either that or you had too much ale with Joe. M.

The key to better performances must be the return of Lawrence and Fuller. We've known all season that they are our main (read: only) attacking weapons in open play. To make other members of our squad dangerous for the opponents, we would have to change the way we play - and there is no way TP's gonna do that now.
