Stoked: (adj.) Commonly used term by extreme board sport enthusiasts which refers to the highest attainable and most pleasurable emotional and physical sensation for a human being that is brought on by the accomplishment, or the sheer enjoyment of a physically challenging, adrenaline producing, mind bending, synapse snapping manoeuver. Eg. Dude, I'm so stoked! www.stokecity.ca/Lingo.shtml

Going camping this weekend. Will I have to pay a royalty to Peter Coates if I want to stoke the fire?

My trademark/IP law is a bit rusty, but it would probably only be a problem if people could legitimately confuse the two and/or they were passing themselves off as a Stoke City FC site for some financial gain and/or if we registered Stoke City as a TM in Canada. Presumably we only register our TM in the UK, not worldwide?

If you were to look a bit further into the site you would have found this: "We Support... Against Drunk Driving Canadian Cancer Society Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada Surfrider Foundation Stoke City FC... Stoke City Wakeboard Canada is big football fan. We came up with the name back in 1996 without knowing that Stoke City FC existed. Take a look in the lingo section of the site for the definition of stoked. We combined it with 'City' because we wanted to create an online community where wakeboarders could gather. We do follow Stoke City FC now and wish them all the best in Division 1. I, the site's founder, spent some time working in the UK and France, so my knowledge of football has grown exponentially over the past few years. www.stokecityfc.com www.stokecity.co.uk www.oatcake.co.uk
