Great news he deserves his 100th cap, it's up to him to keep his place now. I'm in Paris for the game so hopefully he will play.

Theo Walcott has been called also call-ups for David Wheater ??? and Jermain Defoe This could be potential good news for Ryan, we could see him feature in the Under 21's game if he's lucky as Wheater is always a certain starter for them. EDIT- This is only a provisional squad remember, this will be cut down.

I think Beckham can count himself fortunate as he’s been retired from the professional game for nearly a year now.

Not sure to be honest, is he match fit?
I suppose it gets his 100th Cap out of the way and then he will get in the team on merit in the future rather than Sentimental Value!

Playing a few poor matches for a 2 bit american club gets you into the England squad these days does it!?
I suppose there is the 'just give him the 100th cap and fuck him off permanently viewpoint.'

REMEBER- This is only a provisional squad, Beckham might be exluded from the actual one!
But i think if you ask yourself the question of who are the best 23 players in England, Beckham has to be in there...

I think he should deffinetly get his 100th cap he deserves it.But he has been out of the game for a while and needs to get his arse back to the u.k instead of playing this shite soccer as they call it.

Possibly Salop, however Victoria was a major factor in his move to la so he may still have been playing there

I'm glad for him. As somebody says, once the 100 is out of the way, its up to him to keep his place on merit.
The US league might not be the best, but probably on a par with the Scottish, French (which is rubbish, all the players play in Italy/England), Belgian and other minor European leagues. You might even count places like Portugal and Holland where only 2, 3 or 4 good teams exist - the rest are quite average.
As long as he is fit, does it really matter what the standard is? You don't lose your ability by playing at a lower level, especially when the key to his game is crossing and set pieces!

No such thing as "deserving" a cap whether it's your 100th or your 1st.

Of course it matters what the standard is. If you're playing against milkmen every week, you're not going to be prepared to face world-class internationals are you?

surprised
would have expected him to be in the squad for the mooted game in Tinidad as that game is purely an attempt to get CONCAF votes for our prospective 2018 World Cup bid. Beckham will have played a good number of the new season of MLS by then & the hosts would look for the likes of Beckham for the 'stardust' factor.

Can't begrudge him his 100th I guess... I don't know, every time I've written him off he's come back, been great for a couple of matches, flattered to deceive, showed off his new ganzy, made some more money and then it all starts over... God he's been annoying over the years...

I was at England's last competitive match (vs Croatia) and I thought Beckham was our best player after he came on, so I don't think he's necessarily become a really bad player since he went to the US. He certainly deserves his 100th cap.

plays with more pride than the rest of them, just look at that croatia game when he came on, he was the diffence. it's not like a club where you build for the future. there will always be players there for england so you have to plick your best team. thats why beckham and james should be in it
My england team for teh france friendly
Simonsen/Nash
Griffin, Cort, Riggott, Shawcross, Dickinson
Beckham, Pugh, Cresswell
Agbonlahor Young/Defore

He's one of my most favouritest England players and have lots of respect for him as a footballer and as a man.
BUT I still aren't sure about his return. It's time to prepare for a hard WC qualifying campaign and is Beckham really likely to play a major role in it? It's time to work.
Its also worth considering that if, at 32, playing in a poor league, doesn't that emphasise the dearth of English talent?

i think with international teams though it's about picking your best team available at teh time no matter what age, rather than building for the future
plus beckham will still have to prove himself in this match that he is capable to still playing for england
