He is a cracking player....slightly out of target?

Actually that's not a bad shout IMO, Claus. He seems pretty strong and pretty quick, and he wouldn't have to move house to get some games.
I think he's looked a bit out of his depth in the Premier, but he looks out of the picture at Man City after their recent signings.
Could do worse considering the pool of available and semi-decent players we've got to choose from is very small at this stage of the season.

His career record isn't bad, despite some recent cowsarseandbanjoness in the Premier. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_MpenzaBetter than 1 in 3 for Schalke in the Bundesliga and looks like he once got 21 in 28 games for Standard Liege.

would be a great addition in my opinion, would definately scare defences in this division and probably score more than sidibe, better replacement for fuller than any of the other strikers we currently have, better than nugent and healy aswell

Is a good striker and in the TP mould, so good basis on that one. Although I'd imagine his wages are astronomically high and he isn't worth probably what he takes home in a week

|
|
Post by Lakeland Potter on Mar 19, 2008 8:28:49 GMT
You are probably right about his wages, Dan. But when we loan players from Premiership clubs we usually pay only a fraction of their wages. I'd have thought £10k ish per week for the next 7 - 10 weeks would be within our budget and would be good value for money. And he seems so far out of the picture at Man City that the money would simply be a bonus to them.

Looks like he's out of contract at the end of the season too.
So he could be eager to get a few games under his belt to put himself in the shop window, rather than see out the season in their reserve team. I can't see him getting a new deal there.
95 goals in 250 career games isn't too shabby.

Agree - not a bad call really.
And perhaps one of those players that highlights the gap between the Prem & the CCC.
Deffo struggled in the Prem (albeit hit a bit of form under Sven for a while?) but suspect he'd be a real handful in the CCC.
We'd do worse.
(By having the play Porkin for e.g.)

I think dotb was referring to my username. Couldn't hit a barndoor from 10 yards/couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. A tribute to Keith Scott, Dave Bamber, Paul Stewart, Billy Whitehurst, Vincent Pericard & Mama Sidibe just to name a few of my City heroes.

Dats a great shout, he would absoluetly ripe it up at this level and would defo be a player in the TP mould but as already said his wages would be a problem. Come on Coates get that wallet out and bring in a class striker to get us to the promised land!!!

Mbo Mpenza would be a more typical TP forward.
always thought they would be a good pair,@ least in our league.

FOXES MOVE FOR MPENZA - AGENT Emile Mpenza's agent has confirmed that Leicester have made a bid for the striker.
Leicester are hoping to strike a loan deal for Mpenza, who is currently out-of-favour at Manchester City.
The 29-year-old is currently considering his options, one of which is a bid from Leicester.
"I have already been called several times by the people of Leicester," Mpenza's agent Rachid Tajmot told Het Laatste.
"But we are looking at all the options."
Mpenza is out-of-contract in the summer and would automatically qualify for a new deal after 16 league games but he is currently short of that mark and is now unlikely to reach that figure.
Leicester will hope to seal a deal before Thursday when the transfer window for loans closes.

If we went for him on loan we'd be a more attractive proposition to him than Leicester, I would have thought. If he did well at Stoke we'd probably get promoted and could be in a position to offer him a Premiership deal next season. Leicester are not in that position.

In the abscence of Kamara he would be my favoured option. I think he'd be my preferred next choice as well, if the Kamara deal hits the buffers. But you'd think we must've made contact with handfuls of strikers over the last few weeks. He could carry on living where he is, and it must be better for him to perhaps win promotion for us, rather than see out the season in the Man City reserves before getting released on a free?

Reports in Belgium apparently say Stoke and Ipswich are interested in him. tinyurl.com/4vf89dwww.dhnet.be/sports/football/article/206104/emile-prisonnier-de-son-contrat.htmlFor Emile Mpenza, that means the end of its adventure with City. With the winter truce, it refused a mirobolant contract three years and half with Trabzonspor. Several English clubs have him on their radars The most concrete proposals come from two clubs which could go up into the Premier League : Stoke and Ipswich. But Emile Mpenza waits. He showed that he had the level to shine in First League and that he is not continuously wounded as in the past.
Of aucuns wonder whether it could not be the substitute of Jovanovic if this last leaves the Standard. Indeed, the Standard remains the club of heart of Emile Mpenza. But could a Belgian club make sign a player who can gain five times abroad? It is not very probable...

We should be looking at players like Nugent, Mpenza, Kamara, Mido etc if we go up. Definitely.
I think maybe even scouring below us wouldn't go a miss. Maybe bringing in someone like Keogh, Ebanks-Blake, Maynard, Beattie, Misfud?
It's going to be an interesting summer either way.
