A thought just crossed my mind whilst reading an article in one of the online papers about how the credit crunch could damage clubs with high gearing (i.e. Manure, Scousers etc)
Toon are sponsored by Northern Rock in a deal worth £25m
Northern Rock are now owned by the Government
Therefore.... if you pay tax in the UK, you are paying for Newcastle United's sponsorship.. the Toon are effectively being given a government hand out.
Happy with that are you???.... i wouldnt be

Of course not happy with it, but what do you suggest 60 million people do in protest at the situation - emigrate to Dubai? ???

I'm sure that Fraser Kemp, Bill Etherington, Chris J Mullin and Sharon Hodgson are all aware of the situation.

It was mentioned in the house yet nothing seems to be happening about it, nothing to do with Blair being a fan i dont suppose.

No, Blair's the liar who told us about his fun times at the Gallowgate End, but rarely (if ever) actually attended a match!

erm not wading in to burst a bubble here but all the sponsorship moneys will have already been paid. I'd expect newcastle will need to find a new sponsor once the current deal ends though...

At last. Well done widget, finally someone with a bit of sense. The taxpayers haven't put a penny into Newcastle. If the Northern Rock is still in the shit by the time the next the annual Sponsorship fee is due then they'll pull out.
