I want Germany to win the world cup. You are right bunny its amazing how Germany has built up from nothing after the end of world war 2, as well losing the 1st world war and been raped hard by Versailles.
That bollocks aside I still hope the coke riddled, stomach stapled, castro loving git gets knocked out along with that cunt Heinze.

Fair point Beardy - I find it hard to be rational about the little twat! To a certain extent i suppose so do i. ;D I just still remember the mesmerising spell he had over me as a kid as if it was yesterday and i actually feel genuinely honoured to have seen him in his prime, taking the piss out of all who got in his way as they all tried to hack him down. I'll admit it ended badly but i'm as laid back as they come and yet he always managed to get me excited. If Pele or Eusebio were better than him then whoever got to see them play regularly were very lucky people indeed.

I could be biased but being old enough to have seen them all... pele was better Best was better gazza was better (if only for one season)
maradona was (and still is) over-rated.

sorry, but I can't have Maradona being called over-rated. He won the Mexico WC on his own, and is a hero in Beunos Aires, Barca and Naples. 3 of the huge powerhouses of football.
In Naples he turned a Div 2 side into the most attacking team in Europe and is still seen as an absolute God. He was kicked to f*** by every single team he played against, especially England in 86 who joeinoz quite rightly says were truly sh** for 75 mins of that game and simply booted him all over the park.
no way on earth was he overrated.

Having one "better season" doesn't make you better overall. Best squandered his talent even earlier than Maradona did. Pele never tested himself in Europe. The Brazil '70 team could have won that tournament without Pele. Argentina in '86 wouldn't have come close without Maradona.

I wouldn't say best squandered his talent. He won everything there was to win (apart from the league cup) and played at the top for ten years.

I'll bet he enjoyed his life one hell of a lot.

Yeah. One thing about George Best is he retired at the age of 27. Blimey.

Yeh I love to look cool on the internet I can't remember it no, but I still hate him, one of the early cunts of the game, promoting cheating.

I'll forgive him when his drug riddled cheating carcass is paraded in front of millions of weeping Argentinians after he has a heart attack the cunter. H This sums up EXACTLY my sentiments. Good work, RAF! There are several people in the world that I am waiting anxiously to leave this planet. He's one of them. Cunt. K4

Nope...and never will. It also annoys me about the constant reference to him being the greatest player. His skill and talent as a footballer does make him great, but his character and personality have to be considered as well and cheating is one of the things which means he can never be the greatest in my eyes. The problem is that society is so dumbed own and seems to accept this behaviour it becomes excuseable....no wonder the world is in the mess its in.

What do his character and content have to do with how good he is with a football? If that's the criteria we're judging by then there hasn't been a truly "great" footballer for about 40 years, since they all had their vices and flaws. Best, Gascoigne, Zidane - you only have to watch Messi to see he's not above knocking it in with his arm (as he's done a couple of times now for Barca).

But before we all get stoned on the aroma of our self righteousness, remember Maradona was a sinner...but he was also sinned against. It wasn't just England who could only kick shit out of him to stop him. Every side set out not just to put him out of a game but to maim him. The blatant brutality of Gentile on Maradona was a huge part of the rules toughening up against habitual violence. When Goicochea broke his ankle he kept the boot he did it with in a glass case ferfuxache.

The thing with people these days is they totally focus on a couple of incidents and ignore the rest of their career. In a few years time Thierry Henry will repeatedly be remembered for his handball against Ireland and being a dirty, rotten cheat. The truth of course is that he was one of the most honest players of his generation and a credit to the game. Short memories by very bitter people.
