I hated the abuse Cresswell used to get on here, as if it was his fault he got into the team, he was just a perfect professional who worked his bollocks off for 90 minutes. At championship level however, his goal scoring ability was fantastic. 13 goals he scored I think from the left wing? Not easy.

A great season.
Cov was the one where I thought this is it were going to do it.
Got to remember how times change though, away games at Cov and Sheff wed failed to sell out, and tickets for Colchester went on general sale and were available up to a couple of days before the game even though that game could of seen us promoted!

What a season this was! Can remember the weird feeling after the Leicester game, we were back where we belonged! mama's two goals against Bristol C are also stuck on my mind, and the Fuller goal versus Wolves still give me goose bumps whenever I watch it! ;D ;D ;D It seems so long ago though, funny eh? ???

Wilko was the real unsung hero of that game against Leicester. Dickinson became the centrepiece with all his screaming and chest thumping, but Wilkinson is cut from the same cloth and would have been there with him, had it not been for that nasty tackle from Howard. If Wilkinson had rolled around on the floor as certain players would have done, Howard would have been off. As it happens, Wilko's a proper footballer and got up to deck him instead, despite the fact that his ankle had been torn right open and he ended up on crutches. That Coventry game was fantastic. We were so awful in that first half, but we got better and better as Shawcross, then Mama and then Lawrence came on. Was always surprised that Zakuani never ended up with us or another Championship team. His distribution was awful, but he was a really solid defender. Much better than Peterborough in League 1. How much did we pay for bloody Ameobi? £500k for about 5 - 10 games? Doesn't Pulis Jr get a mention for his performances against Newcastle in the cup and John Acres touting him as a possible playmaker before the season?

I pay due respect to all the players that contributed to that season. We were one of the favourites for relegation at the strat of the season! I thought Stephen Wright was a good player (still do) but just so 'stop/start' with injuries. Were we favourites to go down? I hear it quite a lot on here quite a lot and always think it sounds a bit odd. The season before we finished just off the play off spots. Why would we have been favourites to go down (and with which bookmaker)?

I hear it quite a lot on here quite a lot and always think it sounds a bit odd. The season before we finished just off the play off spots. Why would we have been favourites to go down (and with which bookmaker)? Possibly because a good number of the squad which helped us get a decent league position in 06-07 had returned to their parent clubs (f.e. Fortune), failed to sign a deal in time (Diao) or signed for other clubs (Hendrie). This left us with quite a threadbare squad for 07-08 and it was the fairly late loans of Shawcross, Craddock and Wright which helped to strengthen us

That Craddock loan deal was weird. He was Wolves' captain when we signed him and he is now, in the Premiership.

This guy more than most Got the loads of stick for most of his time here but was a very decent Championship player and the way he reacted to being constantly played out of position is a lesson to cuntsticks like Beattie, Kitson and others that football and Stoke City is not all about fucking them. Beat me to it, sheikh. He should hold a place of honor in all Stoke fans' hearts.

I maintain that Simo's penalty save is the second best save in history (behind Mr Banks against Pele, of course) The initial penalty save was superb but to then get back on his knees to dive the other way to tip a shot wide from about 8 yards out was phenomenal. I can still picture it in my mind. the delight when he saved the penalty, the dread when i saw it going back to the strickers feet then the sheer bloody euphoria when he showhow managed to block the second shot. I still dont know how he managed it. I shall spend my evening studying the footage looking for answers ;D was my best memory too started us on the way mama's goals v bristol the friday night comeback against scunthorpe the fans - coventry and watford two of my favourite ever away days The Bristol game was one of the firsts games I took my son to and when Mama broke away with the ball I thought not a chance but he slotted it away perfectly. Went mental. We were living in Cornwall and promised my son if we beat Bristol would get tickets for the final game....best decision I ever made what a fantastic day.
