I was feeling nostalgic, so thought I'd start a thread of that tremendous season! Here's a couple of players you might have forgotten about: Gabriel Zakuani- Although he played out of position too much, his performance at West Brom (all 30 minutes of it) was absolutely magnificent. Lewis Buxton- You may laugh, but Lewis actually played 70 minutes of that 'crucial' match against Leicester after we lost Wilko to injury. Stephen Wright- OK, he didn't pull up many trees, but it was his cross from a cleverly worked free-kick that lead to our crucial equaliser at Scunthorpe. Sexy git too

Zak was so much better than Cort, great player. There are loads-Craddock, Bothroyd, Pearson, Ameobi, Gallagher and Nash. Some doing more than others.

Craddock was a very good addition- I think Shawcross learnt a fair bit off him in a very small amount of time.

I pay due respect to all the players that contributed to that season. We were one of the favourites for relegation at the strat of the season! I thought Stephen Wright was a good player (still do) but just so 'stop/start' with injuries.

This guy more than most Got the loads of stick for most of his time here but was a very decent Championship player and the way he reacted to being constantly played out of position is a lesson to cuntsticks like Beattie, Kitson and others that football and Stoke City is not all about fucking them.

Well said Sheikh. Cresswell was superb all season. Despite us al moaning about him being on the wing, he never really complained himself- and pretty much won that game at Palace on his own. Came up with some really crucial goals- of which about 80% were in the six yard box (not that it matters at all).

Well said! Clearly not good enough in the Prem but made a massive contribution in the promotion year. Model professional as well........

I was gutted when we didn't sign Zak, a proper defender and a top centre half.

On the subject of Zak, he was at Craven Cottage for our game against them in May. He was in the Stoke end of course

Sheikh: Good man! Creswell was a very good signing for this club (taken in the wider context) and glad you gave the man the respect he earned and deserves.

Haha. How the devil is Demar? He was on my table at the Player of the Year awards and spent the whole night chatting up the barmaid and getting pissed on champagne. Top guy though- I won a bet with him

Some cracking away games that season. Palace away was Cresswell's first crack up front and oh boy did he take, only be shoved onto the left side again in the future and lets not forget he was the last player to score that season with a vital goal at Colchester.
Zak was superb at Derby away and not forgetting the 20 mins or so he played against WBA (or was that season before?)

Zak was superb at Derby away and not forgetting the 20 mins or so he played against WBA (or was that season before?) The Derby match was the season before Mills, but the WBA was the promotion season. John Eustace was also brilliant at the Hawthorns. I think Scunthorpe away takes some beating from that season. We were pretty poor, but that last three or four minutes was incredible!! Don't forget Simmo's penalty save at Cardiff either

Sheffield Utd was the game I knew we'd get in the play offs and Wolves was the game that to, myself confirmed we would get automatic. I do miss Championship away games, I must admit.

I maintain that Simo's penalty save is the second best save in history (behind Mr Banks against Pele, of course)
The initial penalty save was superb but to then get back on his knees to dive the other way to tip a shot wide from about 8 yards out was phenomenal.
I can still picture it in my mind. the delight when he saved the penalty, the dread when i saw it going back to the strickers feet then the sheer bloody euphoria when he showhow managed to block the second shot.
I still dont know how he managed it. I shall spend my evening studying the footage looking for answers ;D

Steve Simonsen. Nash got most of the credit for that season and he only played 10 games.

the 07-08 side will never be forgotten every Stokie knows how much every single on of those players gave their all from Lewis Buxton through to Carlo Nash every single player deserves credit for playing a part in such a monumental season in the history of Stoke City.
That game at Coventry was one of the best away days i've had.
I still have no idea how Simo managed that save at Cardiff from the penalty spot.
Great season which was matched with some superb memories.

Was brilliant in 'Spoons before though! Yep, that was ace!! ;D I bet Steve McLean is still wondering how he didn't score at Ninian Park. Oh well There were some bloody awful games that season though- not least Barnsley at home, and Burnley away. Horrible games! Oh, and thanks for pointing me in the direction of Gabby- just been in touch with the old chap.
