We knew the extent of his injury when we let him go to Soton though, didn't we? But why it hasn't been made public is anyone's guess. With Bothroyd already in and definitely not a like-for-like Mama replacement, I'd guess any new loan striker this week would be a big Sidibe-like lump though? With Kuqi at Ipswich and now injured, and Helguson apparently unavailable, maybe it'll be an unheralded youngster we have to plump for? Glenn Rodent seems to think Ameobi wouldn't be match-fit enough to be a worthwhile loanee for anyone. tinyurl.com/324sxa

Dont get me wrong I think Pericard is the worst 'striker' we have ever had but TP loves him.

We have absolutely everything to gain by him staying there. 1) He won't be anywhere near our first team 2) He might shin a couple in and the daft buggers sign him on a permanent deal (ok a bit of wishful thinking there)

I think he loves the player that he saw at Portsmouth about 5 years ago, and loves the level of player he once wrongly thought he could get him back to, first at Plymouth, now at Stoke.
But I think it must slowly be starting to dawn on even him that Winkle's days as a half-decent player have been over for quite some time.

I hope beyond hope that he doesnt come back but TP is a stubborn sod & if he cant get a traget man in he could just bring Vince back.

Vince has had a funny couple of years it would seem. He was injured wasn't he having just found his form(yet again in his career)Then there was the jail time plus by his own admission he wasn't easy to get to know. It always seemed that he missed the South coast and the friends that he'd made and was maybe destined to never settle in here. I still maintain you can't take away all the ability a player once had but of course, confidence is required to regain the spark. Face it, he got booed here every time he took his tracksuit top off. I say Good Luck to him. I think he might surprise a few people. He needed to move on though.

Why 'Good Luck'? He was a waste of time who gave absolutely no effort even after the club (wrongly) stood by him after his time in prison. Save 'good luck' for someone who gave a shit or had to move on because he didn't get a chance.

How do you know that he didn't care? Oh and people do make mistakes, where would many people be in this world if someone didn't give 'em a second chance? Blimey, lighten up

Idiots - front 6 (assuming he dumps that ridiculous 5 man back we saw on Sat'dee) without Mama
Lawro, Whelan, Diao, Gallagher Cresswell, Fuller
Diao obviously needs to get fit (if not then Delap or Pugh), but this team would play f***ing fantastic football and get promoted
