You've come up with the goods again Roots. Another great game. We went to Huddersfield on a bus from the Black lion, Had a couple of drinks in the town then onto the game to watch Stoke net 2 goals in a minute. Happy days

Remember that one well. So windy, some of Pressman's kicks in the first half were almost going out on the full. Different story in the second and we were hanging on towards the end. Good stuff..

Ace. Thanks Roots, well worth the wait. The mental when Steino slots away the 2nd looks immense. Anyone know who the ref was that day? Not J. Parker by chance? Just before this game, I spent a day painting a flag using one of my Mums old bed sheets, which I laid out on my Dads lawn at home, when I finished and lifted it "WE ARE STOKE" was printed on the lawn! (also the day before my Birthday)

It was my first and so far only trip to Huddersfield. i remember getting close to the ground and thinking that i'd travelled back in time about a hundred years. Also remember chanting flapper Pressmans name and him not even acknowledging us!

I was there too. In fact, I stopped one of Steino's shots! I was standing behind the goal above cross bar height and as he hit one just over I stuck my hand up and stopped it. Nearly snapped my wrist in 2 Thanks for that.

That game actually makes me laugh out loud even now, almost twenty years later!
I went with my girlfriend (who I'd turned into a Stoke fan) and my mate with his girl (now wife) but she was a Crewe fan and wasn't over keen on Stoke.
When Stoke scored the first she got caught in a surge and was dragged down about ywenty steps, she came storming back to us non too pleased and muttering about 'bloody Stoke fans' and hey presto we scored another and she was swept away again! ;D
I think that, to this day, remains the only Stoke goal I actually laughed at more than cheered! When she reached us for the second time she was less than happy ;D ;D ;D

Geezer goes get something eat during a game, misses two goals, gets the piss ripped out of him by his mates, never sees the goals then they turn up on the internet nearly 20 years later. Priceless. Nice one ;D

The referee for that game was Ted Parker, a lunatic and the Mike Dean of his day.
He was absolutely abysmal that day and if I remember rightly, he booked about six or seven Stoke players. At the end of the game not one of our lads shook his hand.

We were in the seats for this match. I think Nigel Johnson described the stand as "shuddering" when the second goal went in. Great followings back in those days, probably 2,500 that day at least. Makes you wonder why we cant even sell 3,000 tickets for Old Trafford nowadays.

Was John Butler booked in that clip
I remember that game for something bizarre
When Biggins scored they obviously kicked off- the next Stoke player to touch the ball was Stein ( they back passed from the kick off and he intercepted) and he scored with that touch.
So in two consecutive touches................ two Stoke players scored 2 goals. Think how hard that is to happen again.

Jim Parker was the ref. Added loads of injury time in the days when there was usually hardly any.

I was there, one of my favourite ever mentals for the second goal, completely lost my dad and brother. Got absolutely soaked as waves of rain swept across the ground towards that open away end.
Leeds Road was a proper ground, that side terrace must have been able to hold 20,000 on its own back in the day!

I was that pissed they 'nearly' didn't let me in. Broke up with my girl the day before, and was devastated. Not. Went to Leeds after and picked up an Aussie girl!

I remember that one. It was in the days when I used to sit on the 'bars' on the terraces. Remember being suitably impressed by the reallt sturdy ones at Huddersfield. Also remember Pressman having a solid game, and nearly saving that pen too.
Talking about the ref, didn't huddersfield get a free kick from inside the box for something or other (not a backpass, maybe obstruction)??

Great memory, even my old man who was the master of the calm celebration went ballistic for Stein's goal.
Good call mickstupp, the seatboys did indeed invoke the "shuddering" comment from Nige.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I was 12 and this was my first ever Stoke game. The only thing i remember of it was standing on the steps about half way up and my dad dragging me out of the way as the Stokies at the back surged forward after one of the goals. Makes me feel really old now looking back at that and thinking about all the memories Stoke have given me since. My second Stoke game was the same fixture a year later and my third was the Autoglass Final
