Why the obsession with whether it's genetic or natural? It's as if the only way some men can come to terms with the idea of homosexuality and accept it is as an unavoidable trait in some. How pious. How closeted.

How closeted. I can't speak for others on this thread Skip. Personally it doesn't matter to me why some people are homosexual. They just are - and discrimination of any sort against them is plain wrong. However, I thought some of the comments on the thread about homosexuality being "unnatural" were daft and I make no apologies for saying why I think that opinion is wrong.

I know exactly what you mean Lakeland, I just can't bring myself to defend others by saying that it's natural - it's tantamount to saying it's a bit icky and wrong but they can't help it so we must tolerate it. Life's too short to give a sh*t.

How closeted. skip: it's not just homosexuality. We live in an intolerant society where control freaks try to set the agenda for others. Whatever happened to 'live and let live'? Singling out homosexuals because their sexuality is different, is part of that intolerance. WTF...they do no harm to me because of their sexuality so why should I care what they do? They're no different than anyone else. I have a homosexual who lives one side of me and one who lives directly below me. One is a cunt who I wouldn't give time of day to and the other is as nice a guy as you could wish to meet. That would pretty much represent the population as a whole and their sexuality has nothing to do with it. But, many people (and there are quite a few on here) who would refer to those different than themselves as 'That black/gay/paki/Greek/Chinky etc bastard' as if they, themselves, were God's own children. Oh, I could tell you some tales about 'God's own children', these 'straight' marvels of nature who bash their wives and children about and then go on to criticise others because they're gay. They're fucking nuts. They're just intolerant cunts. This is the 21st century and, as in this case, which the thread was originally about, no footballer should take to the field and be subjected to such prejudices. As for this bollox about faulty genes, it's just that: bollox. I see nothing faulty about two homosexuals in love living together; going to work each day and contributing as much to society as any 'straight' person; donating as much to charities as any 'straight' person; fighting for their country as well as any 'straight' person: etc., etc. No, they may not be able to reproduce, but I can think of a lot of 'straight' people who I would, happily, cut off their balls to achieve that end. I would suggest some people grow up and stop being so fucking nasty about those who are different. The golden rule applies to all: if they do no harm to others, then they're ok. OS.

This debate about homo's is unnatural!
Oh look Old Strokie has joined the debate! They're all on here now. 'Them'.
Who the fuck are we supposed to persecute at a football match now we can't throw bananas at the fuzzy wuzzies? I just wish you lot would leave us neolithic bigot's to abuse who we want!
There's also a gay referee in Welsh Rugby......all you miners obviously wanted to keep the pits so much so that you could keep this sort of stuff underground!
All the great civilisations were undermined and subsequently fell by toleration of the gay's fact!

I hope he hasn't been slipping £40,000 of Spanish taxpayers to him without the knowledge of the Spanish taxpayers!

Funnily enough, rape and incest is more common and 'natural' in the animal kingdom than homosexuality, from a survival of the species argument homosexuality isn't natural. However everyone is free to do as they please in this country at least, I don't have a problem with anyone who is gay - what I do hate is people who bring it up at every opportunity and try to ram it down your throat. Although as far as I'm concerned for everyone, its a private life keep it that way.
I'll admit couple of years ago after several weeks of listening to one particular person constantly going on about their gay exploits I did say some things which he then leeched onto calling me a homophobe, and refused to accept that I didn't want to sit there after he came to join us every day about the latest thing he had done to some bloke he met up hanley/newcastle.
I can see why some people take up a more disliking stance, I'm not racist or homophobic, but there have been incidents over the last few years which have pushed me to a point of irritation where it comes to a point where you get fed up of it then get brandished with a label for it.
End of the day its all private and personal feelings, and unless directly asked they're probably best kept that way. If someone asks you if you hate gay people, and then you say yes you hate gay people they shouldn't then be disappointed or upset - at this revelation. For me you can be as racist, homophobic, pedophilic, incestuous or necrophilic as you like - so long as you're not harming or contributing to the harming of any people just because its no longer your private life then.

If you established a colony of 50 gay men or lesbian couples on an island , would they naturally survive or die out?
I was at school up to 1976 there was 1 openly gay boy and 1 shy lesbian girl in a school of 1200 children, it is imo the acceptance and even the fashion to experiment with same sex relationships that has seen it's undoubted rise. Some may argue that it has always been there under the radar and ofc this is true , but not in the numbers we see today.
My daughter is a lesbian , she has been with her partner since she was 15 and now they are both 23. they are great girls, intelligent , career girls. I do worry for them as one day the subject of children will raise it's head. Both have had boyfriends in the past and are happy with each other despite having the same rows that all couples have.
I have no problems with their relationship, the wife and I love them both, she just gets more help with the ironing than I get mending the car.
So if you want to be gay, or lesbian then go for it. Just don't expect any favours or special treatment from anyone,

Sexuality is a cultivated, subjective issue & not neccessarily one that we should shy away from
