Havent seen this on here and not sure when it was put on the official site, but there wont be a friendly at the Brit this year because of "the development of an underpass on Stanley Matthews Way and the upgrade of parking facilities around the stadium"www.stokecityfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~2055218,00.html So this is the full pre-season fixture list although they have yet to confirm opposition whilst in Austria Pre-Season Matches: Thursday 22nd July - Nantwich Town (a) Saturday 24th July - Newcastle Town (a) Tuesday 27th July - Derby County (a) Saturday 31st July - Burnley (a) Tuesday 3rd August - Bristol Rovers (a) Friday 6th August - Wrexham (a)

Pity but I suppose I can see the logic. It is a shame though, that we didn't manage to arrange an away friendly against a top British or European club. I'm sure it would benefit the players to play at least one game against top opposition before the season starts.
Then again some of our best starts to the season have been after very indifferent preseason friendly results.

...and f*cking chaos for the first 2 home games if you read on a bit in that link. Anyone got an idea exactly what the parking improvements are?

Still had a decent season though

They're just about building up match fitness, and of course to show off/sell the new kit before the season starts, which doesn't apply this season.

Apart from car park expansion, they're also to upgrade the South car park. It will finally be surfaced, marked out, hopefully have decent signage and presumably, have an ordered exit system, instead of the present free-for-all.
Not that I'm blaming the club, as it didn't belong to them. Imagine the money spent, only for a car franchise to be built over it!
Let's look forward and enjoy.

Not that I'm blaming the club, as it didn't belong to them. Imagine the money spent, only for a car franchise to be built over it! Let's look forward and enjoy. That's not what they told the fans forum at the last meeting. They will be losing some spaces on the car park behind the boothen and gaining some adjacent to the west stand with no overall loss or gain expected. The fact that the other car parks don't belong to the club was also mentioned and that the underpass should improve traffic flow as there should be no fans on the road. (Hmmm - let's see) As you mention, the South car park should also be better controlled due to it being surfaced and parking bays marked on it. The Q why don't the stewards take more ownership of traffic control was brushed aside by re stating that it is the job of the police and the South car park is not theirs. There wasn't a real answer when asked why they take parking fees and then abandon responsibility after the game. Ideas about parking the stewards away from the entrance were also discussed, but it struck me that the attitude was "let's see what happens with the changes" rather than owning the issue and dealing with it.
