gutted, read this earlier and was relieved to see it was being denied by his management. He has been ill for some time with stomach cancer from what I recall. A big loss

gutted, read this earlier and was relieved to see it was being denied by his management. He has been ill for some time with stomach cancer from what I recall. A big loss Yes, hes not been well for a while but always seemed convinced he could overcome it and continued to speak about getting back to recording and touring. Showed great courage and defiance that the illness was not going to get the better of him. Such a sad loss. Im off for a beer and to blast Holy Diver out of the stereo \m/

Greatest rock voice of all time. Rainbow live at Bingley Hall in the late 70's is still one of my most memorable gigs. RIP Ronnie

I saw Sabbath on Heaven and Hell in 1981. Then solo in 1984. It certainly isn't my kind of music anymore but he does evoke great memories of growing up.
RIP Ronnie.

Found this out last night at the jam night I run, needless to say there were a lot of sad musicians there last night, Dio is an absolute legend, and a thoroughly good bloke from everything I've read and seen of him. I think it was amazing how well his voice sounded at the age of 68 compared to some other aging rock stars out there. He is a talent that will be greatly missed.
RIP DIO

2nd stage at Download is being renamed in his honour - The Ronnie James Dio Stage. Nice touch I thought.

How sad - I had the pleasure of seeing the man live in the 80's at his best
