Any Decent Golfers out there. Im getting rather fed up with the Game. Been playing for about a year now. I have not had lessons. Are lessons a must? Im getting fed up because i still dont really seem to be improving. But i dont want to give up. Im fairly rubbish off the Tee. Never seem to get it a major distance. My Shots from the fairway/Rough are not great. Id say im fairly decent on my putting. Ive been playing Keele par 3 alot lately and even on that seem to do most holes 5 or 6 dont get many par's and ive only ever had one Birdie. I dont want to quit the game because i really like it. Just getting very fed up with not getting very far. Help would be appriciated

Either play / practice with good players or take a few lessons to "iron" out your biggest flaws.
First things first, get a solid stance, a decent grip and a repeatable swhing - they're the basics, then after that if you can hit the same wank shot all the time you'll know how compensate for it and push on from there

A little tip. Chop about 3 ins of the top of each Iron and about 5 ins off your woods. And you will be able to get the lid on the bin. ;D

Its worth having a few lessons just to sort out any minor problems you may have. Once you get the basics sorted the rest will come from practice. The driving range in Lightwood does lessons for about £15
