Just looking at the message boards for some of our promotion rivals, to see what they make of the run-in and I couldn't help but see many comments from the Bristol City supporters referring to us as a 'hoof' football team and that Bristol City try to play the game how it should be played.
I'm getting increasingly f**ked off with this perception of Stoke being labeled or tagged as some sort of hoof-bully-boy-football team who rely on goals from throw-ins, like we should feel embarrassed by it or something.
I have seen the majority of Stoke game this season, they haven't all been pretty, but they have played some good football during some point of the 90 minutes in each of the games and when needed, they have made the more physical and direct route to goal - It's got us where we are in the league and that's what matters.
I couldn't give a flying f*ck if we walk backward to the opponent's goal, just give us that 60 million plus pounds and all the other huge payments while Bristol City supporters look forward to watching their team displaying the beautiful game away at Swansea next season.
The bastards.

It won us 3 points in a game vital to our automatic promotion chances.
Nuff' said.
Edit - Sidibe's goal that is.

And how should it be played ? I thought it was to try and win, in a fair and sporting manner within the laws of the game ....... can't see what we are doing wrong on that front

Bristol City seem to think they're the 1974 team, when in fact they're prone to a fair bit of hoofing themselves and are pretty physical and score a lot from set pieces.
Dele Adeboloa wasn't signed for his ability to do stepovers and nutmegs was he?

He has got a touch of skill, yes, but he's also a battering ram.

He has got a touch of skill, yes, but he's also a battering ram. isnt that how ALOT of people describe our own ricardo fuller???

Explain to me how the smaller, quicker, more skillful Fuller is more of a battering ram than the lanky one with the aerial presence?

He has got a touch of skill, yes, but he's also a battering ram. you have just described fuller there pal direct, with a touch of skill next?

Battering rams primarily rely on their unsophisticated brute force. Fuller relys primarily on skill.

so fuller never uses his body strength to his advantage?????
hmmmm very strange that!

"direct, with a touch of skill" Surely you're taking the piss? A touch of skill? The bloke is probably the most skillful player at Stoke in the last 20 years or so with only Hoekstra anywhere close. It's true he fast and powerful but I could swear I often see him go jinking past players and not just barging through. I think it would help if you kept your eyes open when watching the games.

He does, but it's not the asset he generally uses the most. Nowhere did I say he "never" does it.

Backing down are we Gaz? How many people agree with you on this thread then. Is it the "silent majority" again?

Whatever argument you're having you lost all credibilty by describing Fuller as a player only having a "touch of skill" Jesus wept.

Obviously. Great argument by reverting to name calling as well, it shows just how in control you are of this debate. You clearly are a footballing genius.
