I know it's a 'what if' senario but do you think that if Faye would have stayed on, we would have conceded less? I'm searching for excuses

Yes, he had Drogba in his sizeable pocket early on and we wouldnt have conceded that many with him on the pitch

If nothing else - he may have done a proper man's Fuller and given some of our team the damn good slap they deserved and which they wouldnt have got up from

Doubt it, Higgy was done for pace on most attacks, Huth was sloppy and made stupid mistakes and fuck knows where Collins ended up, his flank was empty everytime Chelsea attacked it.

We'd need much more than Abdy to prevent a thrashing yesterday. For a start, we'd need:
A left back who can defend A right back who doesn't get torn apart against better players A target man who would actually pull his weight, instead of just ambling about the pitch letting Lampard do whatever he likes. A referee who could referee with any kind of consistency and spot a two footed challenge.
That's off the top of my head at least.

He would have prevented Chelsea's first, that's for sure. I'm still not sure how Kalou was able to get in ahead of both Ryan and Higgy - shameful stuff for a centre-half really.

I really wish Abdy would sort out this injury issue. He must have gone off injured 4 times in 2010 already.

No, the team looked like they couldn't be arsed from the start. We gave Lampard about 20 yards to run in to with the midfield camping on the 18 yard line. Pathetic.

I doubt it, but if Mama had been on the pitch , then it would have been a different story completely.

I actually think so! He was very commanding and self confident in his play. When he went off we looked more shaky straight away, and Ryan only looked like a shadow of himself! We would of course have lost anyhow, but their 3 first goals were really soft and should have been prevented like a couple at the end should have been!

only chance we had of preventing a 7 goal thrashing yesterday was if we started with begovic and tommy in goal!!

He was certainly missed when he left the field yesterday. We'd have still lost of that I'm certain but had we have crumbled in the way we did with our captain and mentor on the pitch I'm not so sure.
One thing I will say in Abdy's defence is that he's definitely looked like the old Abdy in the last few weeks (injuries aside).
He's still our lynchpin and we'd have to look long and hard for a player of his quality and calmness on a football pitch.
Please Tone. Try him just once in the Makalele role in midfield with Huth, Ryan, Higgy and Wilko at the back and Tuncay and Whitehead in a central midfield position. I know it could work.

I think it was a turning point in the game , I still think that Chelsea would have gone on to win reasonably easily but Ryan for whatever reason was shocking and it was a bad move to bring him on . He clearly is not ready either physically , mentally or a bit of both and Wilko on and Huth to centre half would have been the better call in my view

What target man stops the other teams attacking midfielder?
Top of your head or top of your arse?
