Ipswich certainly did talk to Nugent... but Nugent never went back to them with an answer. When Jim Magilton was interviewed on BBC Radio Suffolk, he was asked about Nugent...... Magilton say "Nugent can sod off" I nearly crashed the car !!!

I think Pulis if far too canny an operator to burn his bridges by saying anything rash like Magilton but I do detect frustration in his statement about the indecision coming from either Pompey or Nugent.

Why the worry of being that Stoke have set off for Hertfordshire. How far is Wtaford from Portsmouth? Not very far, thats for sure. Although a medical and paperwork could be more difficult.

given the state of his fitness, and the rumours of his bad behaviour, coupled with how he pissed everyone about when he left Preston, and seems to be up to the same tricks again, I'm not sure that his character will come up to Tony's standards.
hopefully we have more that one iron in the fire, otherwise we could fall victim of another Zamora situation.

bayernoatcake. Do you honestly think that Watford has modern technology. They have only just got electricity and indoor toilets.

We have been expressing an interest in this individual for at least a couple of weeks and it would appear that it might have been Stoke who caused the Ipswich move to fall through. Despite the rumours regarding his fitness/ankle injury etc.
Considering we are now entering the home stretch and are in a melee for automatic promotion this deal seem to be dragging.
I am sure the club are trying their best but when negotiations start to become time consuming and laboured at this stage of the proceedings then alarm bells must sound-especially when Magilton lets out his vitriol, and I am sure it was not sour grapes .
If young Mr.Nugent can't get his agents act together I would rather the club let him sit (as he must be) happily on a premiership salary on a well polished bench.
We cannot waste time and could go after other fish in the shrinking pond.

"And today Pulis said: "We have made inquiries about Nugent, but from now on I think the best thing to do is to talk to Portsmouth. "If it's on, it's on. If it's not, it's not." My interpretation of this is that we are obviously keen but getting mixed messages from Portsmouth and he's getting pizzed off - Magilton style. Or .... Pulis is a cock tease and he'll sign tomorrow ...

Strikers are a bit of an exception to this rule though ain't they - if you had a half fit nugent on the bench you could stick him on for the last 30 minutes and it very possible he'll score. A box to box/defensive central midfielder is something completely different!
Look at what Parkin did in his loan spell last season even being as out of shape as he was.
