After watching some of the reports about people trying to get home in europe I thought I would ask what is the most expensive taxi you have ever had.
Back in 2002 when they were doing up the west coast line from London I had hurt my eye and could not see through it. They expected passengers to get off a Milton Keynes and get a bus to god knows where to carry on to Euston.
I asked this Virgin Rail bloke for help and to my surprise he walked me out to a waiting black cab, stuck me in it and in a second I was off to my front door in south London (Woolwich) and cruising up the motorway.
The guy driving said they would pick up the bill and i asked out of interest how much it would have been if I had paid and he said £180.
Thank fuck for network rail ;D

similar thing with me on a train, I was on the last train from Glasgow to London (stopped at Crewe) bit it was 3 hours late getting to Crewe and virtually half the train got off at Crewe and were put into taxis as we'd all missed oiur connections, some going to Cardiff . I was put in a taxi to Stoke with 3 other people, 2 going to Derby and 1 to Nottingham. The taxi driver said it happened quite regulary and that was him done for the night - 1 trip that was all he needed. Think ours was going to be £80 but that was back in the 80's.

taxi tried to charge me £38 from hanley to hilderstone (where i live, duh). I usually pay between 20 and 25 quid.
So pissed out my face, I said, "no problem, let me just call up your office and check that price", he quickly dropped it to £20....
winner.

£50 from Manchester to Macclesfield which I thought was expensive but it was 3 O'Clock in the morning and he did stop off at the kebab house on the way home.
I did also have a taxi driver try and charge me £2 for sitting outside my drive for ten minutes whilst I got ready. I could understand it if I had asked him to get there straight away but having confirmed the time to be picked up as half 8 and him arriving at 8:15 I thought that it wasn't on. He spoke to his friend in the office and asked what time i asked for the taxi and the reply was "i'm having a nightmare tonight", so he asked again and this time the bloke said "straight away". He then turned to me and said "it isn't very often that he get's it wrong" and myself being in a mood said quite twatishly "That's fair enough but i'm never wrong" ;D
He dropped the charge but I gave him a £2 quid tip at the end anyway!
