If we are aiming to become reliant on money we make, not Coates' money, 20 million pounds is a hell of a lot of money, and I doubt we would be able to resist. Gibson would be a great addition to our squad in my opinion, would this be on loan or permanent though? As i see him as a major part of Uniteds future.

there is no chance Ryan will be heading to Man U for £20m.
they are set to spend £10m on Chris Smalling and are in real need of strengthening their squad with another winger and centre forward. (continually linked with Benzema and Silva). if they complete deals like this there is no way they will have £20m to splash out on another young centre half.

If someone really is prepared to offer us £20m for him, I don't think we could turn it down.
And I'm sure he'd want the move, particularly if it was Man Utd.
But I can't see it happening this summer.
There's probably only the 2 Manchester clubs and Chelsea who've got the cash, and the chances of any of them zooming in on Shawcross and putting that kind of cash down for him have got to be remote.
Unless Fergie has really zoned in on him and is utterly convinced that he's going to be the rock of Utd's defence for the next 7 or 8 years and is resigned to losing Vidic, it looks a bit of a non-starter.
And it'd make his decision to spend £12m on that Fulham defender look a bit weird - but not as weird as his decision to let Shawcross go to Stoke for 5% of the fee he ultimately bought him back for!

The Shit will be after a forward in the summer to replace Berba.

IF Ryan goes to MUFC I guarantee the fee will be 'undisclosed'...

So, basically, Ferguson is going to lose £18 million pounds buying back a player nurtured through the Manchester United Academy, as well as giving us a player with great pedigree and probably worth £5-6 million on his own? I doubt it somehow.

If they are so intent on getting a new striker, do you reckon they might be interested in Mama?

Not as weird as you think FullerMagic.
Vidic may be leaving and Rio Ferdinand is not only getting older, but statistics have proven he is becoming less reliable each season - in terms of the number of games he is missing.
Evans is rated as hit and miss by the Utd fans and that only leaves Brown (more of a full back) and O'Shea (I actually rate Ryan as a better centre half now, nevermind the future).
You can certainly see the sense in bringing in two young centre halves.
There is most definitely no smoke without fire with regards to Shawcross and I fear the actions and events we are seeing/hearing are slowly confirming it.
Fergie ringing him up after the Ramsey incident, his sudden ankle problem (which has kept him out of the team for as long as any other injury he's had at Stoke so far) and Scholes' recent quips about having to wean ourselves off Coates' money all smell like Moxey-esque ground prep work for a summer sale.

Yeah. I'm not saying it's totally preposterous, acton.
Fergie is obviously very interested in him , in the medium-term, and it's almost inevitable he'll end up there eventually, at least if Fergie remains in charge.
I just think it's a conspiracy too far to suggest his current ankle injury is a smokescreen. I can't see who'd benefit?

Why would they let Gibson go? He looks like a ready made replacement for Scholes to me.

I wasn't sure who would benefit from Mike Sheron's mystical sciatica problem back in 97'... ...until he rolled up at Loftus Road fully fit and firing...

Unlikely the Shit will sign him after the Smalling deal and as siad they have other area's, notably in attack, that they need to strengthen more urgently.
Cant see how anyone wants Gibson, he has been complete and utter wank for Ireland and cant get ahead of Whelan and despite a few good goals has been toss for Manure too. A cousin of mine is a ST holder at the Shit and said he is useless

I think the biggest danger regarding us keeping Shawcross is Spurs. If they get 4th spot I can see a deal being struck with Harry and Tone which will see a couple of players coming here with a bit of cash thrown in.
Tottenhams defensive options are not great, with King missing constantly and question marks over Woodgate. Its more possible than Man Utd IMO.

I wasn't sure who would benefit from Mike Sheron's mystical sciatica problem back in 97'... ...until he rolled up at Loftus Road fully fit and firing... Why would Fergie insist on him not playing the last THREE MONTHS of the season though? He's still raw and games at this level are what he needs to continue his strides forward. I just can't envisage the meeting: "Tony, as part of the deal, we must insist that you don't play the lad for the rest of the season because .................................................." Hard to make anything fit there. And Shawcross' admittedly already small hopes of going to the World Cup are now almost over, which he can't be best pleased about? I can just about see us going along with it, if that's what it took, but find it impossible to know what Ferguson would be getting out of it, and even more impossible to believe Fergie would put Shawcross in that position at this stage of his career.

I think you can rule us out as we are going for Jerome Boateng a young defender from Hamburg that one seems definate , Stretford Canaries have no money so I think you are safe there , personally I think he will stay , wouldnt mind him tbh as he is excellent but from your point of view you need to build around him . Can just see Fergie sitting down and selling that one to Joel Glazer.
Fergie "There's this young boy I've got my eye on - central defender - hasn't got an international cap and has shown himself to be a bit fragile of he hurts someone - but he's played in the top flight on and off for the past 2 years - can I have £20m of that Ronaldo cash - plus I'll get one of our boys off yer wage bill at the same time - that young Gibson fella"
Glazer "OK so if I put a $7.5m tag on our offesive midplayer boy Gibson that makes this highball deee-fence backstopper worth around $35-$40m right. So who is this guy?"
Fergie "The boy Shawcross - plays for - er - the Stoke Pottery Redstripes".
Glazer " Say - I remember that guy from when we went to the Britannia Decibeldome - you never did tell me why their supporter revenue demographic doesn't wear green and yellow when their franchise plays in red and white like hours but I haven't got time for taht right now - say didn't we have a Shawcross here - what happened to him?"
Fergie "Er I sold him to the Redstripes for $3m"
Glazer "Guess I'd better be off to catch that plane"

shawcross it never worth 20million. Even with premiership experience he is still unproven and his distribution is no where near good enough for the top four.
If he was put into any top four team he would stand out like a sore thumb.
I think around 10-15 and stoke will not be able to say no, player power will come into play and an offer of around 10 million could trigger that
