good quote at the bottom The maximum permitted sum of any individual's benefits claim should be no more than the equivalent of working a 40 hour week on the minimum wage. It should never be more lucrative to sponge off the taxpayer than it is to work. Ah, and what wonderful role models those 8 children have; don't work, churn out children, sponge off the state and justify your actions. The terrible thing is, if there were no benefits system, you can guarantee that this couple would not have had so many children in the first place. Until the benefits system is changed to ensure that it is in place purely as a safety net for those that really need it, we can look forward to a country largely made up of benefit scroungers that are leeches on the working persons taxes. The biggest benefit scroungers are, of course, bankers. I don't hear anyone talking about them - instead focus on those at the bottom - as reprehensible as these people are, are they the real cause of our economic problems?

Seeing as they scrounge so much out of the govenments kitty, I wonder if they'd complain if one of their kids needed treatment that the NHS couldn't afford?

jay your very wrong pal
the bankers did not install a "rather be on benefits than work" ethos
i dont care about bankers, they live in a different world to me, in their suits fancy london flats, porches and wine bars. they have not caused this workshy attitude or the very wrong benefits state we now have in this country
these benefit scroungers are our peers, they live and not work in our community, are happy to sit in the same pubs you drink in boasting of their exploits whilst you go in for a pint on a friday at the end of a hard week
that is why some, and i mean some of these people are the scourge of society
what do i tell my kids when they see this, when my daughter comes home pregnant at 16 as she sees this way of life as acceptable
its not acceptable

Interestingly the family also got debts of £20,000 from a mail order catologue - the banks should be to blame for such inappropriate lending there too!!

my heart bled when she said that they can't afford to go on holiday. I know! And they are forced to watch the holiday shows on the 52" TV showing them what they're missing out on, poor buggers!

The mega-rich and big business avoid paying tax. Those hard-working middle and proper working class (not the dole class) are easy to target and are the ones that cough up for those and the irresponsible scum-bags in that story. It should be made clear to folk that if they have kids, they are the responsibilty of the parents - with no state hand-outs. It is their job to feed and clothe them If they are neglected or die, the parents should be held accountable. It may make these tossers think before having any useless kids. Me and my lady have neither the time or the money to have kids, whether we want them or not but we have had to make that decision. Oh, and by the way the biggest dole scroungers are this lot:

this old chestnut again because they bring money into this country via tourism and business at least 5 (not including edward ) of them have served in the armed forces including wars they also pay tax th employ people who pay tax it may be a mini-industry you dont agree with but it is a mini-industry that contributes that is completly different to not working and raising 9 kids on benefits

People on benefits pay tax. You're defending people who employ people on the back of the benefits they receive - isn't that benefit fraud for anyone else?

some people on benefits pay tax, you know exactly what i mean. apart from obscene amounts of vat due to their heart benefits the couple in this thread contribute zero.
i dont really care about exact figures of the royal family because in their case the good always out weighs the bad - we hava a monarchy and it needs to be paid for people have to realise that.
i wish i was there when mumf meets them

Sorry Jay, do not agree with that at all. I have 2 super children. Would loved to had more but with finances and so on and try keep a reasonable living that was enough as me and the wife work. Like so many hard working folk it annoys me to see people who don't work can have as many kids as they want from our wonderful welfare state Remember a few years a go Gordon said what a fantastic job the bankers were doing? Sorry bankers come way down the list on what needs fixing in this country at this moment.

If that's there attitude I'd gladly stop their benefits, take away the car keys and board up the doors to the house, fook em this is what 14 years of labour have left us with
