Is TP pioneering a new 6 - 3 - 1 formation and needs some more centre-halves?

I'm hoping he's not looking at him as a replacement for Ryan.

Can he 'do a job' at full back? He loooks decent, though.

Mouyokolo - is a class act and only 20. Improving leaps and bounds by the game. TP is right - he will be a top player and that is why Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have been watching him. Be surprised if £2m bought him though - but defo will go in the summer - even if we were to stay up.

Thing is thought Huth-Shawcross is our long-term centre half partnership plan :-\

I'm getting very suspicious that Shawcross is off in the summer.

I'm getting very suspicious that Shawcross is off in the summer. Why does it mean Ryan's off in the summer? Think it's more of a case of, a few older defenders moving on in say year's time and pulis want's to get youger people in and ready.

For those of us who are still undecided as to who he is, he is the guy who recently got bossed in the air by David Kitson.
2M?

I think Cyprus is right. Just because we can field several solid permutations at centre back does not mean TP will stop looking at younger players. Faye hasn't looked like a 90 minute player to me this season (he struggled towards the end yesterday) and Higgy is also no spring chicken. So TP will always be looking for ways to bring in younger players. What we must hope is that he is casting his net much wider than centre backs - and I am sure he is.

Do we really need yet another defender??
Attacking options surely have to be of the utter most importance firstly?.

Watching our four centre halves keep yet another clean sheet yesterday and thinking when our young England centre half will be back, I did think to myself what this team really needs now, more than anything, is another centre half.

The Mouyokolo fella is a talent.. the only player to come out of Saturday's PiFFle with any credit.. We paid £2m for him in Jan09 window.. He's French and looks like an Arsenal player so expect some competition..
Footnote: He comes with a mildly amusing chant.. To the tune of DO DO DO.. LETS ALL DO THE CONGA
DO DO DO Ste-ven Mouy-kolo..

I thought he was handy down at the Brit. First half, from distance I thought it was gardener and said to my brother how handy he looked. Then I realised he had a name more complicated than a woman.

If our regular central defence is to be Huth/Shawcross we will need back up now and then!

I dont think you can ever have too ,many good players in any position. If the opportunity to purchase a good player comes along we should sign him up. the addition of these players is to strengthen the squad and in this case a very promising young player. You can read too much into it and hopefully his addition wont mean Ryan heading off

I reckon Abdoulaye will be off in the summer. Mouyokolo would be a decent replacement (so long as Shawcross/Huth were our first choice central partnership).

why do you think Abdoulaye will be off in the summer, Knowles? Whereabouts do you think he will go? I think his legs may have gone and he looks slow and unfit this season so it wouldnt suprise me if we sold him. But i think TP likes Huth at RB becuase he has done a good job there and Pulis loves the full backs to be tall as they do not got beaten in the air at the back post.

This would be an outstanding signing. TP has already spoken about the need to bring younger players into the squad. This guy fits the bill in every regard.

He's a decent larker, and been one of the few bright spots this season, however I'd be gobsmacked if he was sold for just 2 million

He's a decent larker, and been one of the few bright spots this season, however I'd be gobsmacked if he was sold for just 2 million We've put a price tag of £20,000,000 on Shawcross and we got Huth for the best part of £5,000,000 (rough figure - Tuncay is in there somewhere). It seems baffling that you'd let a young player with top flight experience go for less than one Seyi Olofinjana or about the same as a Leon Cort. How much did Turner go for?
