That game could only be described as scrappy. We won without ever getting near our best, the goal completely knocked the stuffing out of Norwich until the last 10 mins when they could have sneaked an equaliser. They say it's results that count at this stage of the season, bloody good job cause as there wasn't much quality on show from either team. Massive win and one that hopfully puts us back on track. Nash 7 - Solid, safe hands. Griffin 7 - Neat and tidy, didn't get beaten too often. Cort 7 - A lot better defensively, much improved display. Riggott 8 - Can't remember him putting a foot wrong. Dickinson 7 - Ever dependable, did well against their main threat Lee Croft Lawrence 7 - Always a threat, although dead balls were shocking. Delap 8* - Player of 2008 for me so far, extremely composed on the ball. Diao 5 - Brain and legs just aren't connecting at the moment. Very poor display. Pugh 6 - Lightweight. Improved slightly when moved into centre. Cresswell 6 - Such a frustrating player, falls over way too easily. Can't fault his workrate though. Sidebe 7 - Some good hold up play and a rare goal. Job done! Subs: Fuller 6 - Not at best but always a threat. Terrible body language at the moment. Gallagher 6 - Held the ball up well to kill time at the end. Shawcross 6 - A couple of good headers at the death. Officials 8 - Apart from one shocking decision by the linesman to give a corner no complaints. Fans 7 - Did their best considering the numbers were small, 400/500 maybe? Quick mention for Carrow Road. Always been a favourite away day but the redevelopment of the riverside with its bars make for a great matchday experience (unlike the Brit ) Reminded me of Amsterdam without the two-bit whores. Another three points and on to Watford. Life is good again.......

Delap 8* - Player of 2008 for me so far, extremely composed on the ball. Agreed Delap has been simply superb. Him and Mama(controversial ;D) have been my favourite players this season.

Thought Nash did some good saves but his kicking leaves a lot to be desired. This is an important part of goalkeeping these days, perhaps he is normally ok but not last night. His shot stopping was very good.
Dicko was brilliant at left back, Diao was rubbish, not a patch on last season, shouldn't start another game. Liam had another very good game. Riggot very good. Delap very good.
Better turnout than I expected, seemed more than 350.
Roll on Saturday, Gooooarrrrrrrrrn Stoke !!!!

350 is a pretty dismal away following for a team in our position. Hopefully everyone saving up for Saturday!!

I have to agree about Delap, this half of the season he has been outstanding! However I have got to disagree about the comment about Nash' kicking. Last night again he was kicking especially in the first half against high strong winds, in the second half his kicking was very much improved. Besides the one nearly blip, I was impressed with his presence in the sticks.
Just like to add it was a good turn out last night I thought for us Stokies, the players did us proud achieving a great and massive win to keep us in the mix!
PS Well done Mama, keep it up son!

Delap has been nothing short of superb for months on end now, probably enjoying the best form of his career right now. Diao isn't as poor as people make out but certainly not a shadow of the Diao we saw last season. There is also something wrong with Ricardo, whether he's ran out of steam or not I don't know. We REALLY need that striker in ASAP.
Every game from now until the end of the season should be approached with a cup final mentality from the players and the fans. One last run of 5-6 games picking up wins and we've done it.

manneh did you go last night? He was as shocking as ever!! Surely he will be dropped on Sat as we cannot afford to carry him for another match. I just hope Pulis plays Gallagher on the right and keeps Delap in the centre with Whelen, and not moves Delap wide allowing Diao keep his place in the team.

Prestwich -
Midweek at Norwich? It's 3 hours travelling to Norwich from where I live (and that's still 2 hours closer than from Stoke!). Most fans would have been home in the early hours and at work the same day. On that basis, 350 is quite a good figure IMHO.

I'm not trying to defend Diao, like I said, he really isn't playing at the standard he set for himself last year. I don't think he merits a place in our starting 11 either, it's just he isn't THAT bad. I agree with Gally coming into the team.

I totally disagree, at the moment he really is that bad with his sloppy play at a very slow pace. Last night once again showed this, I'm not impressed at all and I very much doubt I'm not the only one with these opinions on his current form or lack of!
Whoever asked what time we got back last night, I went with Woody from Redhouse in a mini bus of 14 us which got me back home for 2.20am or so it was.

Thanks prestwich, that's good reading. Wonder if Nash, Riggott and Rory are going to turn themselves into the backbone of the team for the last few matches that (hopefully) get us there? Sound like it, fingers crossed.
No surprise to hear that about Salif, wish Tone would accept it's just not going to happen (but an increasingly small part of me would still love to be wrong there, of course).
Did you get the feeling Ricci's bad body language was directed at anyone in particular or the world in general, like it often is when he gets a strop on?

Fuller did pass more than usual last night, I spoke to my dad last night on the phone after the game who said on the radio that he was dropped because of his lack of passing. Hopefully though he will be straight back in the starting line up on Saturday as I feel we need our best team out for this tough coming fixture.
Just like to add, great performance again by Dicko. Hope the lad keeps his place at Watford and Pugh is dropped to the bench, though I very much doubt it.
