Watching MOTD yesterday i couldn't help but be impressed by Cardiff's on-loan Right Midfielder, Kelvin Etuhu. He was strong, good technically and really worked hard for his team.
Given the level of competition he faces at Man City, can't help but wonder if a player like this would fit in with both our need to improve and our work ethic moving forward. Certainly more so than Jermaine Pennant anyway....

Played very well. He won't make it at Man City, and probably wouldn't cost too much. Think he has had a few injury problems though.

after watching yesterdays game it did strike me just how bad those two teams are, and it makes it worse that is quite likely that one of those two will get promoted!
Swansea dont score enough goals and Blackpool and Leicester surely arent good enough to come up?
one things for certain though, whoever does make it through the play-offs will get absolutely slaughtered next season.
out of the sides in the running i think only Forrest may be able to spend the cash and have the pull to sign the players needed to have any chance of survival!

I can't agree, We played some very ordinary football when we were in the championship, and we have survived without any scares in the premiership without massive investment. I thought Cardiff looked quite solid. Etuhu did look tasty.

Both Soares and Tongue used to fairly rip champ teams apart in a similar style though, and they've both been toss for us.
Although Etuhu did look quick.

I thought he looked good in the first half but not so great in the second, a lot of pace but no real end product, just like so many young wingers.
The players in that game that really impressed me were the defenders, Morgan for Forest and Gerrard (minus his clash with Marshall) and Matthews for Cardiff.

Just a thought gents, i have no strong feelings either way. He certainly fits the physical qualities (shithouse).

Whilst we are on the subject of fucking ludicrous players we shouldn’t sign in a million fucking years, how about Boom Boom John McCombe from the Vale?
He’d be a quality addition alongside Kelvin fucking Etuhu.

I wouldn't mind, but this is coming from the syphillitic fingers of a man who believes that Danny Collins is the left back equivalent of the second coming.
Yo Mamma.

to put this thread into perspective, i think the only player on the pitch yesterday who could realisticly get into our side was Adam Matthews who played right back for Cardiff.
He looks like another good young defender coming through who they will no doubt sell on for an over inflated fee. he could definately do a job for us in the right back position though!
Darcy Blake didnt do too badly either, considering he is naturally a central midfielder.
Neither side had strikers on display who will be able to cut it in the prem like Fuller has though. Earnshaw, Chopra and Bothroyd have all been here before and failed and Blackstock was still young when at southampton, but i still dont think he will cut it in the prem.
someone mentioned above that we have survived 2 seasons in the prem quite easily without heavy investment, but havent we spent somewhere in the region of £40m on transfers since we won promotion?
im sorry but i just cant see any of the potential play-off winners doing anything of note next season in the prem, look how Burnley have ended up after their encouraging start

You'll be delighted to hear that I went to the Vale yesterday and had the 'pleasure' of meeting MOM Boom Boom McCombe. He was solid in the centre of defence and would be a magnificent addition to play alongside Shawcross.

Neither Ledley or Etuhu played as well as Cressers did against Newcastle.

Ledley just isn't very good march. The Welsh and Cardiff in particular don't half hype up their players with average talent. That Adam Matthews looks a decent prospect mind. The crazy thing is TP was ready to spunk £6 million on someone as average as Ledley. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/vEIFeJPtIIq1awrUd6zP.gif)
