means 99.9% safety for us ;D not that i think we are in any danger but this would surely put any mathmatical doubts to bed. They have a -18 goal difference at the moment and defeat would mean they can only get to 42 points, happy days for us stokies.

Indeed- and with what 5 games to go! Great times to be a stokie- we can only go from strength to strength. Hull and west ham however, both deserve to go down, and the one that doesn't will be right in the mix again next season. Got a feeling west ham will just make it- like hull did last year! Hull, after yesterdays display have had it.

hope the "Safety" factor has the right effect on the team & Tony, Some clubs drift off when safe, others use the last games knowing they can play attcking football & go for it. gggggoooaaarrrrrrrrnnn stoke

2-2 Ilan with a goal in the dying minutes, 2 minutes after Yakubu had put Everton 2-1 up, interesting result...Sunderland up next for the Hammers at home, then Liverpool away, the Wigan at home

But Hull have a game hand and potentially could get another 18 points thus giving them 45, so west ham's defeat (had it have happened) wouldn't have guaranteed us safety as it's Hull in the drop zone. Have i got that right?

Hull could have but had West Ham lost they could not so that still means they would not be able to overtake us, that would leave P'mouth Burnley and West Ham unable to overtake us.. I think that is right ??

No you have got it wrong because Portsmouth and Burnley cannot catch us now so a West Ham loss would have meant they could have only got 42 points now they can get 43 but like i say i'm just saying mathmatically nothing else.

yh but its not just about that as all the teams below us have got to pick up enough points as well and move above us, so although that is possible for hull, its not likely that they will do that and everyone below us pick up enough points and us loose all our games, especially when u consider the likes of whu have to play wigan and sunderland etc

Well it's a draw. And all I can say to the pessimists is that I wanted West Ham to win to give us a chance of overtaking Everton!!

As west ham play wigan, the max points 18th can get is 42. This would need hull to win 6 of 6, west ham 5 of 5 and wigan 4 out of their other 4. So we could get relgated on goal difference if wigan can turn around their -34 difference in those 4 matches or if we start shipping goals. Still not entirely happy yet though!!!

For us to go down,
1) West Ham must beat Wigan,Wigan must beat Hull. 2) West Ham,Wigan and Hull must win all other remaining games. 3) Stoke must lose all their remaining games. 4) Bolton,Wolves,Sunderland,Fulham and Blackburn must all equal or better our current total of 42 points.
.........and then we could get relegated on goal difference.
A natural pessimist,but I'd say we're safe.
