I'm a little confused at to what's happened to them in relation to the mess that they were in financially. It looks like they're almost certain to go up now however they must still be in a pretty poor state where getting players in are concerned as there wage bill must still be massive. They seem to be saddled with a lot of mediocraty on big wages such as Ameobi, Barton, Nolan, Carroll, Collochini, Lovencrands, Smith, Butt and others so there wage bill must still be massive and they must be operating at a loss. I'll be interested as to what sort of business they'll be doing pre season. They've got a big squad of good Championship players but not too much quality so could struggle with what they've got particularly up front. I hope some sort of restrictions are put on them as they have a big fan base and I could see them being a real pain in the arse in the transfer market if they're allowed to spend beyond there means. For what it's worth I think Hughtons done a brilliant job and should be kept there. It'll be interesting to see what the board think with him not being a big name. Hopefully the Toon will be crying for Shearer to come back again and mess up all Hughtons good work.

I was only thinking of those guys yesterday Will they come back up a little humbler than when they left? Or will they return thinking they are still Billy Big Bollox with an axe to grind? Either way, we'll STILL be here waiting

A lack of organisation and motivation was Newcastle's undoing.
West Brazil showed that a poor Prem team with an awful manager can get promoted from the Championship.
If Newcastle think they will do a Birmingham, they could be in for a surprise.

newcastle being newcastle will still find it easier thann us to attract names if they want them imho, they are a premiership club in the wrong league when all is said and done.

Cant believe anyone would say getting out of the championship is easy -- FFS ?
However, Newcastle and west brom will find it very difficult not to become yo yo teams
And, its amazing if you watch a champoinship game right now - how much stoke city have moved on
And, we have the added advantage that we have a good a manager who is steadily building our club to be stable at premiership level - and, neither Newcastle or West Brom possess such an asset

with all due respect rob and pasa, i do not think that argument holds any water whatsoever. They are where they are right now because they ill-performed and for no other reason.
No team 'deserves' to call themselves a premiership club without backing up that claim with performances and results. They didn't. It's that simple.

All that is true but players won't see that imo. The name value of Newcastle as "a big club" will see them attract some decent quality players once they're promoted imo. It'll be the same for Leeds when they get back here.

ADFaye25 is spot on, Newcastle aren't in the prem because they do not deserve to be, they really wound me up last season with the whole "We're Newcastle, how can we get relegated?" ethic.

When Stoke City get promoted from the Championship it's a miracle of fish and loaves proportions. You can guess who the messiah is. When anyone else does it it's a piece of piss.
It's classic rimming is that.

I just hate the geordie bastards. So we will see them back in the prem next year, and shearer and the rest of the MOTD presenters will be creaming themselves. I would love it, just love it, if they go straight back down, especially if we send them down.

Newcastle for me need to get rid of a hell of a lot of there players though as they are stuck with a lot of Championship type players on Premiership wages this may not need to prove that easy.

I agree with the general sentiments. The big story is N'castle's refusal to fold like Leeds Utd. I honestly thought they might go down the leagues. One of their plus points is the progress of Andy Carroll. With two/three/four additions they might have sufficient to survive? But yes, a clear-out looks necessary and likely?

It's classic rimming is that. Yes but look at the squad we got promoted with, we really weren't expected to get out of the Championship. Whereas Newcastle did on the whole retain a lot of their squad that they so unexpectedly got relegated with.

After years of trying be a big contender will they settle with Hughton who has done a brilliant job? Best scenario would be getting Shearer back in and getting relegated again!

If they do end up looking for another manager in the summer, I can think of one bloke who'd love another crack at the Premier League. He's from the North-east, has recent top flight experience (having masterminded victories over Arsenal and Spurs), he's won silverware (1989 Sherpa Vans Trophy) and he's available.
And he wouldn't clash too much with the black and white kit.

They're a bunch of pig sexing twonks. I can't stand them. They're think they're a top four club, but they aren't. That's the reality. Yes, they're coming back up, talking funny and puffing their chests out like two young bucks about to lock horns. Fuck 'em. Idiots.

Toon army ? Toon cunts more like.
The gene pool obviously isn't that well developed up there. They always come down Stoke on mass looking like bloated magpies, giving it large around Hanley and Stoke centre, get their fat arses handed to them every time and then squeal like the pigs they are about horrible Stoke and their Neanderthal fans.
Hate them, their unpleasant fans, their pug ugly women, their abortion of an accent and the fact they think Brut boy Keegan or that twat Shearer have any use whatsoever in modern civilised society.

when newcastle go up there is no chance they will go down in the first season. They have the infrastructure in place and always have plenty of money. I know that's what got them relegated in the first place but the standard in the league at the moment is very poor IMO.
They will come up, finish about 12th and then be a regular feature from then on. no chance of them being a yo yo club with the backing and money, last years relegation was a fluke.

I agree with those posters who rate Carroll. He may have his problems off the pitch (and a short fuse on the training ground) but he has come on in leaps and bounds as a player in the past 12 months. One of the best young English centre forwards for me. If TP could tame his temper I'd love him at Stoke. He really is the sort of target man we need.

Think yourself lucky I had to live up there for 3 years and they made my life a misery I always remember wearing my light blue pin stripe away kit for PE one day and scoring 4 in a game surrounded by mackems and Geordies in those bloody horrid silver away kits. I was so proud until one of the idiots put my shirt down the back of there shorts. They're inbread beyond belief and hate outsiders hence making my life a nightmare. Never been back since and don't intend to. Been living in the SE for 20 years now and never had any problems with the peeps down here. The thing that makes me laught the most about them is how they make out they're the best group of people in the world and so warm and friendly. That believe me is a myth. Bitter assasination over. If my mum (from South Shields) was still alive I'd let her loose on you - come to think of it, I'm not too keen on being called inbred myself.
