He inner bad, is he? I think Shawcross has to be up there though. Cost us 1 million (or 2 with add ons?) and hes worth ten times that now. Awesome signing. Awesome player.

We bought him and Danny H in 2006 for less than 3/4M quid. It's not really hard to see why we are where we are and Southampton are where they are is it.

My Dad say's Huddy is the best player we've ever signed but when you consider we paid a British record fee for Huddy, If we had paid a similar amount for Fuller he would of cost nearly £40m!

fuller is quality, in my time peter thorne wasnt a bad buy from swindon either, 500k, scored shed loads of goals then went for 2.5m?
if it wasnt for thorneys injuries he'd of been a top level striker too.

A quiet shout for Delap too. Free transfer and on crutches with a broken leg when he signed the dotted line. I know he gets a lot of stick, but he has been absolutely vital to our rise (and not just for those missiles).

I think you have to bear in mind where the club was when Ricardo Fuller signed for us and where we were when we signed the likes of Banks, Hudson and Greenhoff.
Great signings though they were, we were an established top flight club when they arrived. When Riccy arrived we were an average second tier club and he's perhaps done more than most* to help us become a decent Premier League side, and all for a pittance really.
* Bar Mama of course.

I think Coates, Pulis and Fuller are the Holy Trinity behind this amazing rise. Without any one of those 3 pieces, I think we'd still be sloshing around in mid-table anonymity in the Championship.
So, from that perspective, he's got to be one of our best signings of all-time as he's had such a decisive impact on the fortunes of the club.

Hudson was NOT a British record fee. Nowhere near it.

I know hes been shite this season but Lawrence has to be up there too as he was awesome in our promotion season and we wouldnt be in the Prem now if it wasnt for him.
Ric is a different class, how much we have to spend on a replacement when he retires? Is there even another player we could attract that could fill his boots? I dont think so

Can’t believe there are not more shouts for Ryan. Good shout but I don't think Ryan is at his best yet. give him another 4 or 5 years in a Stoke shirt and then we'll be able to comment.

Mark Stein - £100,000. Say no more! Not that I want to open up this debate But I would argue that Fuller is a better player than Stein, and also helped to get Stoke in the prem, and has played more games in the prem than Stein. Although Stein will always be a legend.

I'm not saying Fuller wasn't a good signing for us but the best ever - never in a million years!
OK so he scored a brilliant winner on Saturday, but it was only his second league goal all season I believe and it'll be April on Thursday! Too often he's cost us with unnecessary suspensions and the goal he missed against Spurs even Mama would have scored.
In the immediate aftermath of an excellent result most fans tend to go over the top with their praise and I think that's what's happenrd here.
Sorry to be a kill-joy and hope he scores at least once in every match for the rest of the season.

Peter Fox cost peanuts & played 499 games to a high standard too.
my vote goes to Foxey if the criteria is value for money.

Logically, if Ric is our 'best ever' signing (apart from locally born Sir Stan) that would make him the best player to have ever played for Stoke.
Agree, he's pretty good, but . . . . . . . . !
