I actually agree,i'm sure there are reasons why we are playing at Nantwich but i also believe they should be playing closer to The Brit.I used to go most reserve homes but not bothering travelling over to Nantwich.

Think yourselves lucky you don't live where I do. I'd think my birthday and Christmas had come at once if I only had a 20 mile journey to watch Stoke play. ;D

live in stoke then , your missing the point stoke is in stoke not nantwich . No, I live where I do for very good reasons - having a 135 mile journey to my season ticket seat at Stoke is a downside but one I happily do as do other Cumbrian Stokies. The point I am making is that the journey between Stoke and Nantwich is hardly something to get uptight about - plenty of people probably commute it to work every day so doing the journey for 10 reserve games a year isn't something to worry about.

That is the reason Macca. Premier Reserve League pitches and Stadia do have to meet certain standards though and Newcastle Town, for example, isn't up to the required standard whilst Nantwich Town is.
Budda this answers your last question.

I was only quoting form what the club said explaining the move to Nantwich when it was announced last season. I'm sure if Newcastle Town upgraded their facilities the club would consider moving back there. However, you also need to remember that TP has a house near Nantwich.

LP, Respect to all exiles who travel to home games but for those of us who live in the area why should we travel to another county for a Stoke City home(albeit reserve) fixture. Regarding the pitch,i must admit i thought that was the main reason for playing elstwhere but surely they can accomadate reserve fixtures on it ,used to at The Vic and i am sure groundsmen nowadays use more advanced techniques to keep pitches in better condition.

Budda - as regards your point about people without cars - surely people with cars can offer lifts to people without cars to games at Nantwich. My car always has passengers for my trips to Stoke and there is a car sharing system in place as well. Luke 45 who posts on here doesn't have a car and lives about 40 miles away from me but he has had a season ticket since he fist contacted me via this board to see if there was a way I could give him a lift. Most times he catches a bus from Barrow to Kendal which is on my way and I pick him up there. Sometimes we car share with DurhamDuran and/or offthewall who also post on here.
If you live where we do you HAVE to be creative to sort things out. No reason why Stoke based Stokies can't do this for away games and reseve games.

Pejic - as it happens the Brit pitch has suffered badly with the weather this winter and it is only in the last week or so that it has started to look half decent. Only the club can tell you why they won't use it for reserve games but my point is that with a bit of goodwill and car sharing trips to Nantwich need not be a problem. It is, apparently, a nice new stadium and it certainly is a smashing town. If I lived in North Staffs I'd go to reserve games - hopefully with a full car. in fact I hope we are in the northern section of the league next season so I can go to some reserve games up here.

I'm sure he'd say yes.

Regarding such loyal fans as Mabel and others who don't drive maybe the club could run a coach from The Brit over to Nantwich so they can get to the games.Keep the charge down or even free for OAP's.Although Tony Scholes will latch onto the idea and introduce another loyalty card where you pay for the privelege of travelling to another county to watch a Stoke HOME game.

That's a good idea - you could put it to the club or perhaps the Fans Forum would back you if you contacted them. If we had a few more Stokies in Cumbria we'd certainly consider a mini bus.

It would definitely be worth putting to the club or fans forum. Or why not see how many people would be interested in going and organise a mini bus yourselves.
