When Delap leaves us/retires, will the long throw tactic go with him? I remember last summer we were linked with Rasmus Elm, a midfielder known for his super long throw ins. If we were to replace Delap with another long throw artist, does anybody know of any that are realistic targets and good enough? I can think of players who can chuck a ball far (in fact theres one on BBC1 at the moment playing for Coventry), but are there any that can throw a ball AND play premier league standard football?

Apparently Shotton has a great long throw so hopefully he will make the grade at Prem level and fill Rory's towel in years to come

I'm sure Rory must give all the lads throw in training as there are quite a few players for Stoke that can't half chuck a ball, would be brilliant if Shotton has a super throw on him like Rory though...

I'd rather we brought in Gilfi Siggursson from Reading, dunna care what his throw ins are like, but he's one of the best deadball speacialists around, and only 20 years old, we'd get as many goals from his freekicks and corners as we do from Rory's throws easily

Only thing is, the long throw tactic has done so well for us these past two seasons do you think TP would give it up? I'd hope by the time Rory leaves we will have a skilled enough squad to not need them any more but I'm sure if Tony had the choice of signing a decent midfielder, or a decent midfielder who can throw a ball far, he'd go for the latter.

When you look at the number of goals we get from them it's going to be a big ask to fill the gap when Rory goes. I quite like it anyway, we should sign Pederson from Blackburn given the chance.

TP bought Arismandi so has shown a willingness for the odd flutter on a young un now and again. He'll be a big player in years to come and I hope we can do a deal with Reading.

Pederson would be good, or I was thinking John Arne Riise, could do a job at left back and although his throws weren't as dangerous as Rory's, with a bit of guidance they could improve a lot.

We should keep Rory on after he's retired as "long throw coach"

Don't forget that Mama and Ryan contribute to the success of the throw ins.

We should keep Rory on after he's retired as "long throw coach" We probably will do to be honest, as when done as well as Rory does it, it's guaranteed to get goals...
