Plainly, quite a lot of major earth works going on around the ground, not the cheap stuff either but major cut and fill earthworks to presumably increase dedicated car park capacity.
It therefore logically follows that, once this is done and our status is again assured, capacity will be increased to a more logical 30,000.
Season ticket sales remain solid and are if anything increasing and, the club is using a very logical 'baby steps' approach towards building itself into the premier league for the long term i.e.
a) stronger squad, season by season b) good academy c) state of the art training facilities d) increased car parking for ground on match days e) season tickets over 20,000+
THEN f) increase ground capacity another 2-2500 seats ( to 30k)
seems the logical next step to me

No mate just a pre cursor to losing the Trent car park for next year. So I'm told.

If you call reducing the size of the south car park again in the next close season increasing capacity, then you maybe right. I dont think so though. If anything inproves the car parking, it needs to be exits away from the stadium, not more spaces.

At least we've got a bit of room to adjust then - even so - we're very close to needing to upsize a bit on both car parks and Ground capacity

Sadly Inever park near the stadium - watching peole steamed up in their cars for at least an hour after every game means my choice is always elsewhere - and, a pain in the ass hike

with this ground capaticity i dont think we should increase to 30,000 we had quite a few empty seats yesterday we only realisticly sell out properly for the 'big' games so i think it would be stupid t increase the capatacy untill we reach europe which be fair is a few seasons away.

Another car dealership to be built along the South car park site so I am told, so the congestion may be less with fewer and fewer spaces available around the ground.

Ijust happen to feel 27,500 is too small for the premier league
AND - TOO SMALL FOR US THESE DAYS
I just dont feel confortable witthe likes of derby having a bigger ground
ours right now should be 30k (IMHO)

Keep it as it is for now the capacity, the club council should be looking at a 2nd bridge close to the foot-bridge now going over the railway which can take cars away from the bottom corner of the south car-park where the diggers/trucks are based now in a 2nd exit away from stanley mathews way and onto the A500 along the Sainsburys distribution centre which would help massively in clearing congestionon that shocking car-park.

Going by planning rules, the club should actually look to decrease car parking space. Crazy rules.

It actually "looks" a lot bigger than 27,500, to the untrained eye. Found it reasonably deceptive, especially from the outside. Really liked the main stand, very nicely designed. I've never freezed my ears off like that before, however!

The South Car Park is a bloody shambles with stewards in abundance marshalling cars in at the start of the game but nowhere to be seen at the end which leads to a free for all.
Why they let traffic turn left is also a puzzle as this leads to gridlock.
Stoke are happy to take the money but dont give a flying fuck that supporters are still there an hour after the game

Plus it also allows the option of giving tickets to children/schools in/around the area to prevent younsters supporting Lpools/MUs etc when they eventually grow-up

Never seen such a shambles in my life getting off, the dickheads that head back towards the ground blocking the exit off need shooting... took 40 mins to get off

Stoke are happy to take the money but dont give a flying fuck that supporters are still there an hour after the game The stewards are nowhere to be seen after the game because they're the first ones to fuck off, ensuring that they don't get stuck on the car park until six o'clock . As an aside, I love how one of them always points the way when I've already turned onto the South Car Park. In fact, words can't express my gratitude; without them I'm certain that, at some point, I would have performed a j-turn and driven at top speed into that big pond on the other side of Stanley Matthews Way.

30,000 plus would be great as the ground would be rated at a higher level by UEFA. We don't seem to be having too much problem flogging 27,000 tickets.
I also believe the Trent Car Park and another chunk of the South Car Park will be going soon.

Get the f...... underpass built! rambo, am I correct in thinking that you were drunk when you typed that?
It's great to see it under way and, starting so early (not waiting for the close season,) suggests that it may be completed by or shortly after the start of the new season.
I'm puzzled as to why SCFC (on its website, Sentinel etc)) isn't publicising what's going on around the stadium. They should be proud to announce such improvements and I'd love to know who is paying for the subway. If it is the council, I'm amazed but delighted that they have the cash to spare, at this financially stringent time.

Do you really think it will be the Council, Monica, when the police are investigating their financial dealings. They have to make a 25% cut on last year's expenditure. It looks to me as if Uncle Peter will be playing Santa Claus again.

If we are going to extend the ground, can we just stick an enormous concrete structure in the corner and at the very top of it put in 2,500 seats for away fans?

Its Stoke Regen paying for the underpass and car park alterations. Work hasn't actually started on the underpass, just tree clearance which has to be done before the bird nesting season (which starts now).

The club is looking after minority groups. This is where you can park your vespa or lambretta scooters. It will make the car park mods happy.

The chunk out of the south car park is for another car dealership so I am told. You are f*cking joking?!! I thought theclub owned all the land around the stadium now so why are they flogging off chunks? There is a recession on - no f*cker is buying cars at the moment anyway. So what is being built on the earthworks that tony mentions above? Is it an extension to the West car park and if so - how likley is it that as a South Car Park disabled section ticket holder (for my dad) I am going to be able to park anywhere near the ground next season?! I'd email Mr Scholes but it will be a waste of time as I had no reply to the last one I sent!

The club doesn't own the South carpark as far as I know. The West carpark (which the club does own) is being extended.
NNH - if I were you I'd contact the Fans Forum NOW as regards disabled parking as they will obviously support moves to maintain or increase disabled spaces near to the stadium and on a level with the stadium. To me it would make sense if the West carpark is being extended to make a few more disabled spaces available in the existing upper level of the west carpark.
