We all know that several of our players are nowhere near good enough for even a bench role in the Premiership. Soooooo......
If you were one of these players, and played regularly in a team that's doing well with good team spirit and a number of friends in the team with you, adored by the fans, why would you want Stoke to win promotion?
Surely it would be better financially, emotionally and from a comfort level point of view to just fail to win promotion every year? ??? ??? ???

Always thought the same thing myself. I certainly wouldn't give 110% at work on the off chance that i'd find myself out of a job. Unless you're reading boss, and you know i always give 110%

I'd wager everyone of those players thinks they're good enough for the premiership , may not be true but i bet they think they could make it in the prem.
Plus wouldn't they all get a bonus ?

Every player will have a massive promotion wage rise if we get to the premier,so it's in all their interests to win promotion.

I've thought the same GoBoks--that's why we need to strenghten the squad so NO_ONE can just be an automatic choice.

Every player will have a massive promotion wage rise if we get to the premier,so it's in all their interests to win promotion. They get a wage rise if it's in their contracts, but many of them joined at a time when there was no real hope of promotion. Also, if they are released/sold before the Prem season starts, would that still be a benefit to them? I think that each team should be allowed 25% of it's players at each of 4 wage ranges with the top range of the Championship being the same as the second lowest range of the Premiership. That way their would be an ability for many players to be retained in the squad. As it is, if I were an average player in a good Championship team, I'd be wondering who my employer would be next year and that can't be good for morale?

Spot on Serps. I cant imagine any footballer thinking if hes just helped the side to promotion he wouldnt be in with a fighting chance of the big time

TP's office 25 minutes after clinching promotion... TP jr "erm Dad, what games do you think I will start next season?" TP sr "Well son, it'll look real good on your resume to be involved in the games against Arsenal, Chelsea & ManU." TP (calling) "Rudgey, I've got the release list here of those not good enough for our first season in the prem ..... Yes I agree, x, y, and z have to go.{ Insert your own favourite players here} We need better!" Turning back to TPjr "Now as I was saying, we need to start you off with a few sub appearances and build from there ..." ;D ;D ;D
