We have to get it right, we have to get at least 4 points , our players have to stand up and be counted , turn it on now and we can go up automatically

It's a huge couple of games Dave, we need to win at least one of them.

We need to avoid defeat at Watford but I think we have to pick up at least 1 win from these 2.

Agree with MCF...we simply CANNOT afford to lose to Watford. We have to get something from that match on the back of a win v Norwich.
I am a little worried at the moment. We have done great to get where we are, but the team needs a little fine tuning. It was a start with the introduction of Riggot (not so sure about Nash myself), and now we need to be looking at utilising Gally at the expense of Cresswell and Dicko or Wilko at the expense of Pugh.
Finally, we need to get a striker in to replace Mama and also to enable us to rid the bench of that useless waster known as Jon Parkin!
It seems strange that I should think like that after this current crop has got us to where we are, but tiring limbs and minds could cost us. We need to freshen the side up, and we have the players available to do just that!

Just been having a look at Norwich's home record. It's ten games since they scored twice in a home match.
It's time for Stoke to step up to the plate now. If we are serious about automatic promotion then Tuesday night is a game from which we must really get the three points. If we can do that and take a draw from Watford then it won't be a bad return from these two games.
We can't keep relying on other results going for us. The time for excuses is over now.

Win at Norwich and a draw at Watford will see us ok. Remember Watford play Brizzie mid week so any points we get will affect them also. All to play for and I agree with ianrb 1 we need to win 1 of them.

The way we are currently performing I can't see us getting anything from either game. Shit I hope I'm wrong.

Thing is if we beat Naaarwich a draw on Saturday becomes a very healthy result.
Two hard games though. No more pissing about now. No excuses no sloppiness. A couple of unsoiled sheets will see us through.

If we beat Norwich a dirty filthy nasty muddy 0-0 at Watford will do.
However, I have no faith that our sheet will be unsoiled in any game we play.

We need four points minimum this week to get our bandwagon rolling again.
To stand the best chance of doing so, Pulis needs to juggle the troops, play players in their best positions (Cresswell up front, Pugh centre mid, Griffin left back), drop others who are out of form (Diao and Sidibe) and bring in a few who are champing at the bit to be involved (Wilkinson, Dickinson, Gallagher). I'd consider bringing in Shawcross for Cort as well.
Nash
Wilkinson Shawcross Riggott Griffin
Lawrence (Whelan in centre on Saturday, with Rory moving wide) Delap Pugh Gallagher
Cresswell Fuller

I thought the last week was the biggest week, but beyond doubt it has to be this one coming. I genuinely feel we have a real chance at Norwich, though they will be without Docherty and Russel, but have a fairly tough team. I What ever happens, we must get at least one victory this week. I want auto Promotion, not play-offs. I have little left in finger nails to chew upon.

I think 4 points would be a fabulous return.
Norwich are a really tough nut to crack, especially at home. Before they lost to Blackpool last week, looks like they hadn't lost at home since the start of November.
Russell could be a big miss for them though.
Watford don't look too imposing on recent form (mind you, neither do we) .
They've got 4 draws on the bounce, and have only got 2 wins and 5 draws from their last 12 home games.

Is Russell banned for this game then, thought he got two yellows which would mean a delayed suspension?
Stoke have become too hard to predict lately, if we get back to the early February form then 4 points is definitely on the cards, BUT that defence worries the hell out of me!

We have to remember that the other teams are sweating as well, dont lets think we're the only ones worried with our recent form. Right now, Watford, WBA, Bristol, etc are having the same conversations. They will be just as nervous going in to the remaining games. Personally, I dont think its a bad thing being 2nd or 3rd at this stage, it just takes the edge off the nerves. If we had been top about 6 points clear or so well that would be different matter confidence wise.

I just cannot see TP dropping Mama for either of these away matches. He chases their back 4, wins defensive headers at set pieces, is invariably our "out" ball (even if he doesn't hold it up that well) and he is Fullers preferred partner.
And goals change games. The first goal in both these next 2 matches is massive. If we can score first, who knows?

Agree that TP will probably not drop Mama, although Spinks does hint at his dropping both Mama and Salif in the Sentinel today, and he is usually party to some inside info.
Mama will be of more use away from home, so the real chance to drop him was the Burnley game. Away, he will fit into the keep it tight, hit them on the break game plan by being the outlet ball to either flick on for Ricardo or hold the ball up for reinforcements. I am not sure we have anyone else in the squad who is tailor made for that role.
Whether we should play like that is a moot point, but TP is not going to change too much about the tactics at this point in the season.

Agree Jezza
I actually think we should at least start with Mama in the next 2 games.
At home, though, when we go a goal down, maybe we needed a change quicker. Burnley had about 1 attack second half, got numbers behind the ball, and Stoke really struggled to break them down. Doesn't really suit Ric or Mama.
In those circumstances, I would rather see Parkin come on. (Don't laugh) In fact, with half an hour to go I would hace brought on Gally and Beast for Cressie and Mama in a double substition. (TP never seems to make a double sub?) We tend to play the ball into Parkin's feet, and his passing is a bit better rather than just a hopeful flick on. And I could be wrong on this, but I think given a chance he's a handful and a decent finisher.
If he got a couple of goals off the bench, imagine what it would do for his confidence.
