The "moon" throws he had were useless and didnt cause us any real problems. The reason being that they were so high and in the air so long it was easy for the defenders to read and even if a Villa player got to it 1st there wasnt any pace on the ball a decent flick on was almost impossible

The only thing that those throws "rocked" was the stadium rocking with laughter as they went looping over.

Hysterical. Didn't the slow motion "wwhhhoooooooaaahhhhhhhhh"s we were doing give it away?

The press / pundits would have a field day taking the piss out of us if it ever happens.

I was far less worried by it than I was when they had possession in open play in our final third. It really was a poor throw. If we'd conceded from one of them, then we'd have fully deserved to have had the piss taken. Edit: Didn't Carroll's goal against us for Newcastle last season come from a long throw?

sooner or later we are going to concede from a long throw & the media will have a field day
for me I say we should all applaud the goal when it happens!
having said that I doubt it will be from one of Cuellars as they were pretty rubbish looping things. As above 20000+ Stokies were laughing at them.

That article is about as funny as the throws themselves.

No Dextrer, Carroll's goal came from a Newcastle free kick which was deflected to him off Lawrence.

Cant be right, I thought we were the only side to use long throw ins?
Sure no other team uses that tactic? well according to MOTD there isn't.

Edit: From the BBC match report: "Ironically for Stoke, it all started with a Newcastle long throw that was not cleared, leaving Duff to cross for Carroll to send a looping header over keeper Thomas Sorensen and send the travelling Toon Army into ecstasy." It is the one I was thinking of, it just didn't happen in quite the way that I remembered.

stupid yam yam cunters. yeah ok, i was a teeny weeny bit worried that it would be our `OWN` weapon of choice that would be their only chance of scoring and to be fair they did get better as he took more, but they were NEVER going to score with what cuellar was doing!!!! anyway, it`s allways a pisser watching the opposition attempt to copycat delaps howitzers and fail miserably.

It isn't the length of the throws that make them dangerous, it is the trajectory.
Only Rory can sling them in horizontally so that the slightest touch can be a goal.

Living where I do I get BBC Look North and so I get to see a bit of most of Newcastle's games. He's raw but he is improving and he will make the grade, I think. No chance of us getting him though as Newcastle will hang on to him when they get promoted.
