Thought he had a fantastic game today. Not only was he a threat going forward he broke the play up on the edge of our box. Ive got to say after the Wigan match away I was a little dissapointed with him but since then hes improved with today being the best ive seen him play for a while.

Thought Delap had another good game too. Whelan was certainly pushing for MOM, but no outstanding candidate.

The thing is with Glenn and Rory, is that they consistantly perform doing the basics well ie pass the ball, break up play and keep possesion. They do ten to get overlooked in what they contribute as fans love the flair perfomances.

Whelan plays best when he plays alongside Delap, they read each others game very well.

I thought he was mint, some great headed clearences and his passing and corner taking has improved in the Prem imho. Huth and Abdo also very good apart from one incident where Faye forgot what the lines were for. Also pleasing performances from Deano, Rory and Ethers although he hasn't found his pace yet

Yeah, some very solid performances from Stoke players today but Glenn Whelan was the pick of the bunch.
His control was outstanding, his tackling right on the money and his passing was pretty good for the most part.
Great effort.

Thought Whelan was superb today, i have knocked him at times but fair play today. He seemed to play as he does for Ireland breaking up the play and keeping it simple, when he does that he looks a better player.

MOM in my opinion. His best game for Stoke by far. Lets have more of it Glen

Good solid performance. Wouldn't quite stretch to superb, excellent or MoM but no complaints at all.

Our most composed player on the ball today. He's patchy sometimes, but when he's good he's very good

Whelan was having a real effect on the Chelsea game last week til he went off. Playing well is Glenn and I'm not his biggest fan.

i think he had a good game but he could of smashed some shots in on the volley instead of letting the ball bounce. and taking to many touches but in all he had a good game

if he could just raise the rate of 1 fantastic shot per 6 or so instead of 1 every 20 or so !

He's still easily our best CAM by far (our only CAM?).
I really rate him.

Been saying it for a good while now ...
but despite Deano having had some good games in the middle are Glenn and Rory actually our best midfield two?
Their individual attributes seem to work together really well, indeed AS A WHOLE even possibly better than when just the one of them is partnered with Whitehead.
???

I think if he's played week in week out he will just get better and better I think the problem with his performances in the past in relation to consistancy are that he hasn't been played week in week out.

Not sure about that- I actually think Whitehead and Whelan would be our best CM pairing. Ignoring the throw Deano's better than Rory in every department IMO Should always be 2 from those 3 though anyway

He did look good there I agree. Just think we'd miss him from our midfield. Today him and Delap tended to cover each other when one went out wide which I thought worked OK. Hopefully we can get a pacy right winger in in the summer, or Liam remembers what he was doing the previous 2 seasons.
Is Delap 34 now? Incredible how much energy he has. Tbh as long as Fuller starts I'm happy enough

Ignoring the throw Deano's better than Rory in every department IMO Should always be 2 from those 3 though anyway I'd go the other way myself. I think Rory is our best central midfielder and you can take your pick from the other two. Deano will generally be more consistent but Glenn's in a good run of form at the moment. The right side of midfiled is the biggest problem at the minute and if it's not going to be Tuncay then Whitehead does it better than the other alternatives. We barely play through the middle anyway so i'm not overly bothered which 2 of the 3 it is to be honest. They're all OK but long term none of them are probably good enough to take us to the next level.
