I went to Cardiff on Saturday to tick off the ground. I turned the corner, and found myself part of the protest against Ridsdale! ;D
Sad news about Chester- they've applied to play in the Welsh league.

I've always thought that Swansea's new stadium, although smaller, looks better inside and out.

1 corner of the Deva stadium is actually IN Wales.the main stand is on (unusually as with games traditionally kicking off at 3pm the sun is in the West) the east side to ensure its in England.
surprised they are going (the phoenix club) for the LoW as that would be outside the pryamid.Perhaps they are accepting that they will never be a League club again?

A city the size of Chester should have football League team - and a damn prosperous one as well. Another example of the crazy, crazy world of soccer financing.
Chester City RIP!

Makes you wonder, apparently they were wound up over an unpaid £20,000 tax bill I believe?
That doesnt even touch on the wages earned by twats like John Terry and Ashley Cole.

The Chester fans were on about making a 500 strong syndicate to try and buy shares in Danish club Brondby. I'll try to dig the link out if I can fine it

there needs to be a restructuring at lower league level where they do not get in debt chasing a dream that will probably never happen

I believe a new Chester City team will join the Northwest Counties division, (step 5) the league that Newcastle Town will be promoted out of at the end of the season.
Staggering that a City the size of Chester has no team!!

John- have you been to both grounds? I've only done Cardiff's so far. I was very impressed with it to be fair. The main thing for the club though is that they have lost every ounce of the 'intimidation factor' that Ninian Park had.
Looking forward to ticking off the Liberty soon (only six more to complete the 92...as things stand!!!)

Real football fans left without a club.
Just shows the FA's neglect of the lower leagues in favour of the foreign prem.

this goes to show that no where near enough cash that is generated in the modern game finds its way to the lower echelons of the football pyramid, without the smaller clubs our league will collapse due to unbalance in the structure, while clubs such as leeds and pompey abuse their position the likes of chester are struggling to function. this is something that needs addressing but sadly will not, after all, did`nt the FA virtually condemn chester and luton to oblivion while the premiership will doubtlessly bail out pompey to save the reputation of the league???

This is sad news indeed. I've previously been accused of being insensitive and heartless for not sympathising more with Portsmouth's 'plight' (by the way, I see they haven't in fact disappeared despite all the "possible last game at Fratton Park" hyperbole when we went there - surprise surprise). However, my point has always been that the worst that will happen to Portsmouth is one, maybe two relegations, which is hardly a tragedy. It's at this level, where clubs really can and do go to the wall that we should be offering our sympathies to the supporters who suffer this sort of situation. Unfortunately the Chesters of this world will never be in the Premier League so their stories barely seem to get more than a ripple of attention. RIP Chester City
