Just been released by dirty Leeds.
Could be a good signing IMHO.

Would he get into our team at the moment though?!
I certainly wouldn't want Russell or Eustace dropped!
Could come and warm the bench up though!
He'd be a good signing, yeah.

Not to sure if it would be a good signing.
How much is he on a week or expecting to be on?

I'd Love to see him here at stoke, Bring in some crowds probably and i think he could handle it in division one.. Hes probably been released because of his wages though?

As it stands he would have to expect around 1/5 the wages and periods on the bench. I would rather have a 24 year old running around as opposed to a 35 year old. Not worth the bother IMO.

The signing of Batty would be a step backwards; we should be looking forward and be looking for players that are young and hungry not has-beens who are looking for a retirement home. Let Wolves or Portsmouth have him. Gouranga.

Bringing Batty in would defo cement Stoke's place at the top of disciplinary table. ;D I'm pretty sure we couldn't afford his wages, especially at the price Stoke are offering season tickets for.

we're still lacking experience in midfield, although as far as David Batty goes a lot would depend on the state of mind he would be in, match fitness etc. In an ideal scenario an old head coming into our team similar to what Stuart McCall did for Bradford and Sheffield United in the last couple of years would be a plus, although there's also the case of what what a poor signing Gazza was for Burnley a few seasons ago.
I'm sure TP knows the score with Batty, and what he wants for the rest of the season if he is allowed to bring in fresh faces. Having the connection with Leeds over the Frazer Richardson deal already may give us a bit of insight into their camp, for starters.

He's past it in my view, wouldn't be a good move. We do ned to somebody to 'lead' the side but that should be Gerry (as he has already proved) whilst Batty would just get into trouble. If he had anything at all to offer then Leeds would be playing him - let's face it, they must be pretty desperate so why wouldn't they give him a run? Nah, steer clear.

Nah not Batty. We should be looking at players a bit younger and thinking about the future.

Gaz, I think you've been doing too many vintage Stoke reports. We need somebody far younger than Batty. Whose next stop is probably Bradford (park avenue that is).

I think Batty being linked with Doncaster Rovers earlier in the season may say something. While at 35 years old, having already come back from two career threatening injuries in his time..... hmmm

I've read all the reports on him being released and none say he has actually been released just that he won't be playing for them again. It seems Leeds are unlikely to pay him off, so he'll just train and play with the reserves till the summer. Some people should get their facts right before posting such lies.

seems a bit stupid though to me paying his wages and playing him im the reserves and saying to him he wont play again, what would happen if they got loads of injuries in midfield

Batty - No. I'm sure tone could find better younger players, for that matter probably better experienced players as well
