To be fair he used to get his head onto a lot of Rory throws.
It's the "Leon Cort on the turn" I'm looking forward to. Fuller will have a field day if he's got his head screwed on.

Personally I think it will be a tough game and I'd be happy with a point at Burnley.

There is absolutely nothing Leon Cort knows about the long throw that isn't now known to just about every Premier League club (well, perhaps not Arsenal). Goals will always be the possible end result of a ball whipped into the box, be it from a corner, a free kick, open play or a powerful long throw. The myth still prevails particularly among those pundits who label Stoke as one-dimensional that somehow the long throw must be defendable in all circumstances. Long may that myth prevail.

Knowing about it and dealing with it are two different things - as Arsenal and Man City would surely testify having both been "double-delapped" this season RoryM

Burnley's secret weapon is actually Clarke Carlisle. Who knows what mayhem he'll cause in our box on set-pieces, dazzling our normally-sound defence with tricky word-play and his astonishing ability to arrive at "442" from a combination of six random numbers. Andy "My Brain Hurts" Wilkinson looks to be particularly vulnerable as Laws looks to exploit Stoke's cerebral frailties.
Sorry, I'm bored...

I think everyone should calm down. We could quite easily get turned over at Burnley. We need to go there, get our heads down and get the job done.

H For sure Leon Cort has done well since he went there. Amazing what high horses some are on. Will be a very tough game as so many of the top sides have found out.

Leon Cort is excellent in the air - no doubt about it. I'm hoping Fletcher doesn't make it for tomorrow!
As RAF says it's not an easy place to go, they have the siege mentality like oursleves last year and these are the games that their fans will really be up for. A point is a good result for us and keeps us going in the league!

I said on the way back from Chelsea that I would be aiming the throws at Leon. He may get up well but as we know they can go anywhere (and not very far.) He could possibly win most of the headers tomorrow but I wouldn't bet against an O.G. or him nodding one down to the edge of the box for someone to crack home. (Ok we may be struggling to fulfill our part of the deal there! )

Despite his obvious defensive frailties he is an excellent header of the ball and really dangerous from set pieces and could cause us some real trouble. Burnley are superb at home and we are poor away so a point really would be a very good result IMO

Leon Cort did little wrong for us. Some of the comments above remind me of the Sunderland fans when we signed players from them.........good enough for Stoke but not Sunderland etc and look at them now. We were in a similar situation to Burnley 12 months ago but some feel we should fo there and roll them over - bit like Hull a few months back.
Cort is a very good header of the ball and yes I agree we need to keep it off his head in both penalty areas.
Will be tough...........am going 1-1

I have nothing against Leon as a bloke and he scored some important goals for us, but he absolutely scared the shit out of me defensively (and that was in the CCC.) I recall him facing up to a player on the half way line and "jockey-ing" him all the way into our six yard box where we had to rely on whoever was in goal that day to push the ball round the post. That kind of summed his time at Stoke up for me, he looked a beast in the opposition's box but a pussy cat in ours.

Remember Citeh's secret weapon - bringing Given out early before the start of the 2nd half for catching practice from balls thrown on the touchline? That worked really well didn't it in the F.A cup replay?!

Corty never let us down and has proved he is a lower Premier league player when on form, he certainly doesn't deserve to be slated having been a huge player for us in the Champ and always being reliable when called on in our first season..
Sonko on the other hand..

i think cort's problem has always been when someone is running at him or turning him, he's very good in the air and very dangerous, but i think we need to be going to Burnley and Winning,
On Cort, yes he was a good championship centre half and had a couple of good games for us last season (he also had a couple of poor games!) but what centre halfs at the club would you swap him for? There is a reason we let him go and that was because he was no longer good enough, we know his strengths and his weaknesses so we should be looking to exploit them!
