I agree Coll. we are still in the mix for automatic and almost sure of the playoffs. CAN ANYONE say they predicted us to be second in March? Last year we were desperate for the playoffs and this year we are fighting for automatic. We have made a huge step forward.

Coll45 - I think you have a great idea there. Nugent alongside Fuller would be a test for any defence.
If we played two up front.
If we did, then why waste money on Nugent? We have Cresswell already.

apb1 ... now you're just being silly.
Nugent may be better than Cresswell, I don't honestly know, but Cresswell deserves a chance to play in his proper position and pericant is just the sort of player we should offload to Stafford Rangers ........... reserves.

Er, because Nugent is better? Why did we sign Cresswell when we could play Pericard? prove it, cresswell has scored 10 goals already.... Last time nugent played in the championship he only netted around that amount..... I thought he was a "goal scorer". Over rated player, good championship standard, but nothing else. Cresswell will work harder than Nugent, AND nick more goals..... So if Pulis wants a striker, look no further than the one he is playing on the wing... Although if Nugent signed, physcologically it would be a big boost for EVERYONE involved with the club..

to think of Dropping Fuller is madness

Nugent is better than Cresswell. Cresswell works hard, Nugent has the skill, at this level at least, to conjure something from nothing, which is crucial at a stage of the season where we appear to have been somewhat sussed by the opposition.
To drop Fuller is effectively to kiss goodbye to our attacking threat. The Hull home game was a prime example.

The poblem wth Fuller is he is carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders sometimes on a few occasions yesterday he should have passed the ball but did not and lets not forget all good strikers are greedy thats the nature of the beast oh no thats a completely different matter.

Agree with that, Rob. Dropping Fuller would be beyond lunacy, regardless of his annoying whining and selfishness. Good point by Squeekster too. He knows full well he's carrying the whole attacking thrust of the team fairly and squarely on his shoulders EVERY match. That's some burden. Nugent - pacey, skilful, creative, balanced, two-footed and a scorer of exquisite goals. Sound familiar?
He likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and defenders are fearful of stepping up because they know once he is in, they won't catch him. Also very good at dropping deep to receive a ball to feet, laying it off and then spinning to receive a first time pass from a player who is inventive enough to supply.
How would I see Fuller and Nugent playing together? They would have to supply nappies to opposition defenders - because they would fill them! seriously that would be some strike force and one that I would be jealous of, if I was a jealous person. This Preston fan on here seemed to rather rate Nugent...

fuller passes the ball to his team mates roughly once every four games. you can't put a price on that.

Why should Fuller be untouchable he is one member of a team who in my opinion has been off the boil lately, possibly reading too much of his early press. Yes he is a talented forward when he has the ball at his feet running at goal, but at what cost, he needs to learn that it is not all about him.
He will probably be missing for a couple of games soon anyway and I think he will be missed less than Lawrence. If you want to appoint a new hero try looking at Cresswell who deserves a run at the front. His running with the ball at goal yesterday and his work off it were immpecable!

Again, look at the Hull game. Without Fuller, we created pretty much nothing and had to rely exclusively on the long throw.
Fuller is a marked man these days, that's why he's less effective than he was. He's a temperamental player and opposition defences know they can rile him if they shackle and hack at him.

Yes lets drop the only player in the team who can create a goal out of nothing.
Why don't we start Vince Pericard too, and Ant Pulis jnr as captain?
We'd fuck this league over anyday with those changes.
What a stupid post!

This is a very brave post... but I am in total agreement. Fuller has become lazy arrogant and selfish these last 5 games. I think he needs to be told that he is not bigger than the club... Take the blinkers off boys!

I don' t think people are blind to his faults; he's a petulant and frustrating player.
But he's also the most talented we've seen for decades. If he was partnered by someone who could hit a cow's arse with a banjo perhaps he'd take the pass option more often (mind you, that is only a perhaps)
But let's not forget that as recently as Scunthorpe (2nd half) and QPR (2nd half) he's been a 1-man wrecking crew.
And it's not as if we're swimming in alternatives, is it?
Parkin, Pericard and Sidibe are joke figures who carry the goal threat of Noel Edmonds, while Gallagher is persona non grata.
He does deserve criticism at times; but at the moment, I think the idea of seriously considering dropping him is lunacy.

remember mark chamberlin he once said when he makes his runs it takes lot out of him so he may look idle and slow to get back sometimes but hes saving his energy for the next one . i think fuller is a similar player so i wont moan when hes slow to get up or back i just cant wait for his next run .

If Stoke have 2 obvious shortcomings, they lack pace and are a bit predictable.
Ricardo Fuller has pace, strength and skill in abundance, and has a knack of doing the unexpected. 14 goals says he is a good finisher too. Why drop him?
It wan't really his game on Sat. They got lots of men behind the ball, and the ref allowed Varga to keep pushing him over. He's better when we defend deep and break quickly, and he's got most of the opposition half to work in.
Erm, like tricky away fixtures. At Norwich and Watford, he'll virtually be up front on his own, with Mama racing about in front of the midfield 4. This suits him much better.
Fuller's due a goal. Let's see if we would still like to drop him after the next 2 matches.
