based on what ive been listening to over the last few years, either on the tv or radio or what most of my friends think,id say if it was a choice betwen winning the fa cup or staying in the premier league, staying in the premier league would win hands down with most fans across the country, which i find incredibly sad,im 42 yrs old and ive been obsessed with football as long as i can remember, and my memories of the fa cup growing up are so magical ive had to get this of my chest,i remember a time when fa cup final day was without doubt the best day of the year, when you used to get up and watch uninterupted coverage of the final from 10.30 in the morning, you would have fa cup its a knockout, sing alongs, how the teams got there and even the cameras on the the team bus as it made its way to wembley with interviews with the players and the manager,it was just fantastic, and what i want to say is i would give up a few seasons of premiership football to have my day in the sun to see the captain of stoke city lift the fa cup high above his head and see 30,000 stoke city fans go wild, thats what football should be and is about, its about dreams, and when im in my final years hopefully talkng to my grandkids,i can tell them about when stoke went to wembley and won the fa cup,and not just about the those 15 consecutive seasons we finished 12th in the premier league...heres to the romance of the cup

Romance of the cup v The Premier League??
No brainer. You're obviously not one of us poor individuals who've spent year after year getting stuffed on wet Tuesday nights in the lower leagues at places like Mansfield, Shrewsbury, Gillingham and sundry other god forsaken holes.
I for one wouldn't swap a fortnightly visit from the games elite and permanent limelight for my club and town for a 6 game thrill and nice awayday with the kids.

of course i am,ive been everywhere with stoke over the years, exeter, brentford, wigan when there ground was a slag heap, this is about what you want as a fan, would you sacrafice a couple of years playing in the championship for a day you will remember for the rest of your life,or does finishing mid table in the premier league give you greater satisfaction

If you could promise we'd get back into the Prem within, say, 3 years then maybe I'd go for the FACup/3 year stay in the Championship/defo back into the Prem scenario. Otherwise, no. This position is far too important to throw away for the sake of an FA Cup. That is actually sad and I do remember watching the 1975 FA Cup Final day from early in the morning and being mesmorised by it all. I guess it also shows how much money drives the whole sport, not that I object to that as long as Stoke are part of it. Selfish, I know.
We can 'push on' and as we are doing pretty well financially, I reckon we'll improve and start ruffling a few feathers in the top ten and further up. In fact, now I've painted that latter picture to myself, I'd prefer to stay in the Prem and keep on improving. I don't think the Club's aim is to keep on just hanging in there. I reckon there is a plan and we must let it take shape. What was it? 3 years of consolidation, then look at giving the 'big boys' a run for their money???

plus the great thing about being a yo-yo team would be the euphoria of a promotion every other season

we're already safe, so lets have both Sorry, don't agree. Until the Pompey situation is sorted, I think we need to be cautious. As long as HMRC don't get their way and Pompey actually go into administration, then everything is fine. That's coming from a pessimist, too!!! Otherwise, beware the unexpected!!! We would be dragged back into the shit by Pompey's possible liquidation. Maybe someone out there can put me in my place and reassure me??? Can Pompey still be liquidated???
