You do realise that they are gonna have a 9 point deduction soon?

yes but they still have potentially 9 points to come off that for entering administration.
i am not sure when the point deduction takes place.
they could still do it if they win all their remaining games.

Have they actually entered admin? Didnt think they had, i thought the taxman was taking them to court over it?

i will be pissed off if they dont have the deduction. where is the equality? palace went into admin and 10 points went straight away. this is the normal procedure for administration and has happened countless times

They are still in business, going to Wembley, and their support has if anything grown this season.
Fair play to them, now let's turn off the sympathy floodgates. I hope the get relegated, it'll make it easier for us to get our hands on Piquionne and Belhadj.

Yeah they entered administration the other Friday, taxman had them in court because they weren't happy about them entering it and still want their money back ASAP.

Their rules are different. No team has ever gone into admin from the Prem.

i don't get point deductions, how does a point deduction improve club finances? # i see what you are saying but surely there should be some punishment for poor financial management. at the end of the day they only have themselves to blame for paying too much for players then giving them astronomical wages. if the reports are true utaka is on 80 grand a week. now if you give a striker who cant score 80 grand you are asking for trouble. i say sod them, take the deduction, sell off all your assets and go to the championship.

Absolutely right. They have effectively cheated. And continue to cheat. Has anyone else noted that whilst backroom staff face redundancy Portsmouth still have numerous loan players on their books, and even bought one in in January! Surely this is out of order. They should have to play their youth team players rather than paying for loans when bankrupt. Also the loan players are the only ones who are any good, Piquonne, O'Hara spring to mind.

It doesn't matter though because they'll either get a points deduction or the tax man will block their administration, which would then see them becoming liquified. They have no chance of staying up IMO.

Not to mention the £1.2 million a year Peter Storrie paid himself, and yet the administrator still hasn't fucked him off. I still can't believe the FA hasn't come up with a system to stop people raping football clubs.

I think HMRC are not happy about the fact that they will be at the end of the line for repayment should Portsmouth go into administration and are challenging whether the present owner has done this process properly/legally in some way or another and are also not happy about the appointment of the administrator, suggesting somewhere that this particular administrator isn't independent enough. It's something like that.
My problem is that if HMRC's objections are upheld in court then Pompey may well be liquidated meaning, of course, that our 6 points will be struck off (as well as everyone else who got points off them). Someone has put the league table up on this board somewhere showing a revised one. I can't honestly remember who gains most but it does make me feel a little uncomfortable knowing that we may only be 4 points off a relegation spot. Yes, I know that other clubs down there will lose out too (West Ham, in particular) but they will all be buoyed by the fact that there are more clubs in the mix than at the moment and I think that we would suffer greatly should this happen.
On the plus side, Pompey's win today may take the financial pressure off them and I hope they make the Final, tbh, so long as they avoid us in the semis!!! We need them to stay in business till the end of the season, regardless.
The 9 points will not be taken off them until the administration has been confirmed by the courts.
