To be honest this has been a lot better than I feared. Ex-pro's to a man seem to be fully in support of Ryan (well done Mr Brazil) and apart from the occasional sad pseudo-intellectual journo the general consensus is that there is no blame to be attached. Even a lot of Arsenal fans have no axe to grind - just one or two twats who probably have never seen a game of football in their lives. The fact Ryan is with the England squad is also a massive boost as it will get his mind on other things and give him a real idea of what a magnificent future he has if he keeps it together. All in all we may come through this unscathed as long as no-one in the organisation lets it alter our mind set and commitment one jot! Well done all concerned at Stoke - employees and supporters alike - total unity.

Spot on - my thoughts entirely. Ex Pros and a majority of fans clearly see it as a 50/50 challenge that went wrong. It is the number of journalists who have jumped in on the side of Wenger which has shocked me. I suppose hyping up an accident to make it sound like assault causing GBH sells papers.

The problem is Professor Wenger the inventor of football has spoken and all those soft southern based scribblers have got their heads so far up his arsenal that they are dragged along on his deluded and paranoid conspiracy rant. The likes of Martin Samuels might win trinkets and plaudits for their psuedo-phsychobabble ramblings loosely based around the game of football but his failure to call this situation correctly, exposes his complete lack of understanding of the game he earns a very good living commenting on. Indeed his decision to side with Wenger and quite outrageously label both Ryan Shawcross and the Stoke City management as the sort of people who would deliberately go out to injure another footballer is nothing short of scandalous and should be addressed in the Courts.
