1 - Walton didn't even award a free-kick to Arsenal.
2 - Walton only gave the free-kick after Campbell and that other fella screamed in his face. Campbell you're a disgrace to the footballing profession because instead opf helping your team-mate out you were more intent of getting a fellow pro sent off whilst not mentioning making it out as though Ryan did Ramsey on purpose.
3 - If Walton has the balls to put in his report the real reason why he sent Ryan off then Ryan will get that red card rescinded because wasn't this the referee who took no action against the Sunderland player that snapped Rory's leg?.
4 - Fancy Walton saying 'it wasn't malicious' but i had to send him off due to the nature of the injury.......Fuckin pathetic and as such Ryan's name and for the good of his mental state his red card has to be rescinded because if it's not then that's equal to saying that you're nothing but a thug.
Walton you're a fuckin disgrace and i bet what you told Rory you then change your interpretion of it in your match report.
Wenger, after hearing your after match interview you're a total disgrace you fookin twat and as such you should be fined thousands along with a touchline ban for a month or two.

It didn't warrant a red card. Therefore we should appeal.

No point in appealing it. The FA would deem it violent conduct and add another game to the ban unfortunately.

He should be made to explain his after match remarks which he made to Rory and then he should be asked why he never took the same action against that Sunderland player when Rory got his leg snapped.
Somehow though i feel a cover up coming on.

So there is no scope for accidents? It's a contact sport sometimes these things happen. It's an unpleasant aspect of the game but it happens.
I don't think it'd be wise to appeal.

For Ryan's sanity Stoke have got to appeal this red card. For the referee to come to that decision that he did then there must be no doubt in his mind that he's 100% certain because you then have a scenario of where you're calling that player a thug.
Was he 100% certain?.......Not if you look at the video evidence he isn't because he doesn't even award a foul until Campbell and Fabregas are shouting and pointing in his face. So for someone to make a player out to be a thug then this HAS to be challenged because if not then Stoke could then be seen in having the same opinion of the referee and that cannot simply be allowed to happen.

Tone himself described it as a bad tackle. That would severely undermine any appeal.

Tone himself described it as a bad tackle. That would severely undermine any appeal. I heard that my-self but Ryan should be fully cleared of any intent which is why it'll be interesting to hear the referees report of the incident and if he sticks with his pathetic excuse in relation to what he said to Rory.

With the benefit of TV replays, I'm sure Pulis would reconsider his opinion. If it wasn't an intentional, malicious tackle, then "dangerous FOUL play" didn't occur; ergo, a red card cannot be justified.

Tone himself described it as a bad tackle. That would severely undermine any appeal. he did and he was right, but on the wrong player, I've seen it a few times, and it was a bloody bad tackle by Aaron Ramsey that could have injured Shawcross just as easily as it injured himself

You'd be a fool (and just make it worse for Ryan in the long run) if you were to make an appeal that you think you have a very good chance of losing.
It doesn't matter if you're right, what matters is if you think you are likely to win.
Stoke won't be appealing.

It was not a sending off offence ....but life isnt that simple and the authorities will fell duty bound to crawl to Arsenal - its the way the league works !

If you watch the video you can see that Walton has a better view than any player on the field, anyone in the stands and certainly anyone watching on TV. He appears to initially allow play to go on. Whilst it was a high speed tackle with both players rushing in on a ball at relatively equal pace, he waswell positioned to identify intended malice by either Ramsey or Shawcross.

I think most of you are missing the point here tbh .
1. It wasn't a malicious tackle, it was however mistimed and Ryan's foot was slightly high when coming itn. Players get sent off when they mistime a tackle and injure a member of the opposing team.
2. I would expect any senior member of the Stoke team to react exactly in the same way as Campbell/Fabregas if one of our younger players was horrifically injured possibly ending their career.
3. Mr Wenger never see's anything, is a tad Arsenal biased and always overreacts to injuries but I suspect Tone would have reacted in a similar way to watching one of his promising young players injured like that.
4. Stoke have a very poor image in the media in relation to fair play, setting aside the issue of whether it was a red card or not, the last thing to do would be appeal. In certain sections of the media SCFC would be portrayed as vicious/heartless thugs. The best thing to do would to draw a line under the incident and get Ryan to apologise to Aaron Ramsey whilst quietly maintaining in was an unfortunate accident.
I feel most people are missing the most important factor in this, lets hope that Ryan and Aaron can be sufficiently rehabilitated.

This is the first thread I've visited since the match so no doubt these points have been posted many times elsewhere.
First and foremost, sympathies to Ramsey. An intelligent and exciting young player, hopefully he'll make a full and swift recovery.
On Match of the Day you could clearly see that Ramsey's ankle was bent almost at a right angle before impact was made, and the ankle was supporting his full body weight. It was a freak accident, any impact at that precise moment would have caused damage and unfortunately Ryan's impact was significant.
It was a complete an utter accident though. If Ramsey had been able to ride the tackle (and there are many of these tackles each match - about 5 far worse tackles in the Merseyside derby alone) then its a free kick, probably a yellow card. A clumsy tackle at worst. In that respect in normal circumstances we'd have good grounds for appeal, in normal circumstances it would never have been a red card - Walton has indicated as much. He clearly showed red because of the injury.
We shouldn't appeal though, it'll do us no favours and there's no way the Premier League would overturn a decision when this type of injury is the result, they wouldn't have the balls. Best just to throw a big supportive arm around Ryan and hope that he is supported in wider footballing circles too, and the England call-up and Match of the Day coverage suggests he will be.
As for Arsene "I don't believe in coincidences" Wenger (who coincidentally saw this tackle on an Arsenal player), Fabregas (who piled through the back of Shawcross's ankle in the first half) and Sol Campbell (who has made his career from such fully committed tackles) - I can understand their distress and support for a team mate, but I would hope an apology to Ryan was forthcoming for the character assassination that followed the game. I'm not holding my breath though.

it wasnt a malicious foul by ryan he just mis-timed it which is therefore an accident so we shud appeal against the red card.
if it was the other way around whinger wud appeal a red card to ramsey if ryan had been unfortunate to be the one with a broken leg
if we dont appeal then the club are basically saying that ryan is quilty and he will be tarred with this for the rest of his career which aint right

We should appeal, it wasn't malicious and if you look at the video slowly, Ryan's right foot gets along side the ball first (perfect plant for kicking it) Ramsey's ankle is already bent at 90'. Also Bendtner impedes Ryan just as he goes to the ball which must slow him by 1/2 second, all contributing factors to the incident, Also the ref waves play on at first and only reacts to the injury.

I agree with everything that has been said.
The ref was totally swayed by the extent of the injury but to be honest, a two match ban might give Ryan enough time to get his head around things

What about the finger gesture by Fabregas to get Shawcross booked/sent off??? that would have been another yellow card so a sending off,no balls ref

Are some of you mad? Of course we should appeal. Ryan did nothing wrong and he should know that the club are behind him 100%. If we lose the appeal he will prob get an extra game ban but at least he will know the the Manager, team and club are in his corner. If the ref has said that to Rory he has basically admitted Ryan did nothing wrong so the red should be binned without us having to appeal.

It wasn't a lunge or two footed, it wsn't high. It was a full blooded commited challenge from a very honest player. Ryan came in from the side with his laces showing not his studs. Its a terrible injuey for Ramsey but it was a total accident..We should appeal...

Judging from what TP said on MOTD he wont appeal as he admitted it deserved a red card. He did however defend Ryan to the hilt saying he is honest and it was simply clumsy. As always TP came out of it very well unlike Wender who came out of it as a hypocritical tosser.
