Delap - treading water after 10 minutes Wilkinson - slow, out of position, keystone kops defending. A poor footballer. Sidibe - complete joke. Pugh - out of his depth
Fabregas - absolutely outstanding, but horrible nasty little greasy spic.

I too thought Pugh looked a bit out of his depth, i was surprised we didn't play Tuncay out wide, I think Pulis over egged the midfield with grafters, we needed someone with a bit of a brain .
I had hoped we'd see Kitson and Tuncay come on after about 10 minutes into the second half .

Thought Pugh was ok to be honest. Very poor up front today, didn't pose any threat at all. Was their third goal offside or have the rules changed again. As the two players were on-side when the original ball was put through does it not matter that Vermin was what I would say was in an offside position when the ball was passed back to him not count ? Cheers Adie

What I also saw was a fine display of football.

we played with 10 today. How Mama stayed on for 90 minutes will baffle me until the day I die. he offered absolutely zero and literally stood still for long periods while Ric ran himself to a standstill.
I hope once again, the myth of lazy Fuller has been shredded. He was our one attacking threat all game.

In my opinion Wednesday night caught up with us and the last team to be playing when you are knackered is Arsenal. I thought Kitson and Tucay might have started as Sidebe and Fuller ran their cocks off against Man City. Arsenal deserved to win but where massively helped by another completely disgraceful display of reffing. The penalty was harsh and the third was offside. I didn't think I could hate Arsenal anymore than I already did but my loathing of them has reached new heights mainly due to Wenger and his bumboy Fabregas.

I didn't think Fabregas was all that impressive. There was enough evidence to have sent him off twice and he was one of the few Arsenal players to not really stand out.
Song was superb and Clichy had a very good game. They made it impossible for us to win the ball outside of our own final third.

At the ground I thought the penalty was harsh. Seeing it on the box it was a stonewall pen. Pugh had his hands up high and wasn't close to the bloke playing the ball. I detet Wenger and what he said after the game was bordering on slander. As I have said, Febregas is vile, but is an exceptional footballer.

Pugs I have seen pens given and not given for the very same offence. I have seen it about five or six times and I still think it was harsh. For me the ref was a disgrace and I am getting sick of officials giving us bugger all. We are an honest and gritty team but we have been unfairly labelled as dirty and it is definitely costing us. Arsenal were a fucking disgrace today cheating and trying to referee the game, at one point Fabregas actually grabbed Waltons arm yet nothing was done. Fabregas might be an exceptional player but he is a cunter of the highest order.

I thought Danny Pugh did really well today, never stopped trying, but he's no etherington. The telling weakness of today was when he went to left back and collins went to CB. I don't think whitehead should have been taken off, shoulda put whitehead at RB huth n wilko CB and pugh LB, collins shouldnt have been anywhere near that game, at fault again for the 3rd goal, same as what he did against portsmouth, ball watched the keeper make a save and then put his arm up for offside, poor poor defending. Pugh isn't really big enough to play LB for stoke, but i'd like to see him used more often to cover etherington so he doesn't have to run his bollocks off for 90 minutes every match. Could even start with pugh on the left and then bring ethers on later, he would be an AMAZING impact sub, imagine him fully fit and raring to go when the other teams rb has been on for 60 minutes.

We were tired and missed Ethers, and Higgy, but it still took a reasonably lucky penalty (correctly given, but it wasn't exactly a dangerous move or anything) and a wrongly issued red card for us to lose.
I wish we'd got a point, but the togetherness will increase again after today.
Can we recall some defenders? Shotton in particular would be better on the bench than Davies.
Re Fabregas, he's a bit of a nob but what a player, and Arsenal played some lovely football - if you're gonna watch tippy tappy then they are the best in the business.

Surprised you went for Huth at LB.
Thought Pugh did o.k, Whelan had some good touches on the ball but game largely by-passed him.

I thought we were competitive for half an hour but our energy ran out and they were in control. Ryan was at fault for their first goal. before the incident they were in control and would have won I suspect as we were very tired. Some of their passing and touch play is great but they lack top strikers at the moment witht heir injuries. Thye would eventually score with all that play around our goal. It was a penalty, hand away form body stopping the ball

We looked very tired yesterday and I think the cup game and its 120 mins caught up with us a little especially with our up tempo game. The international break has come at the right time with the only players playing being Whelo, Lawro and Ryan. None in my opinion will play the full 90 and in Ryans case I don't think he'll be used just taken for the experience. With 3 games in 6 days from Sunday we'll be facing the same again with some rotation needed especially in midfield and up front. I think if we start struggling against Chelsea early doors and go 2 down then TP should maybe think about resting players as the league should still be our priority and in particular getting those 40 points. I did the predictor yesterday and I think 38 will be enough but a win at Burnley will pretty much guarantee it. With Ryan out now for 3 matches hopefully Higgy will be back otherwise its Abdy and Huth (who keeps getting better) Maybe he'll go something like this.
Chelsea Sorro, Wilko, Huth, Faye, Higgy, Whelo, Whitehead, Diao, Ethers, Sidibe, Ric.
Burnley Sorro, Wilko, Huth, Higgy, Collins, Liam, Delap (Burnley have a small pitch), Whitehead, Ethers, Kitson, Tuncay
Spurs Sorro, Wilko, Huth, Faye, Higgy, Tuncay, Whitehead, Delap, Ethers, Mama, Ric

thought we started well, deserved the goal but after that it was men against boys. very impressed with arsenal, perhaps we were a bit jaded but its pointless making excuses against a world class team. bt dissapointed with the equaliser thought we had enough at the back to deal with crosses. agree about sidibe, thats 3 pathetic performances on the bounce, its getting tiresome

I thought the penno was really harsh as the ball had passed Pugh when it hit his trailing arm. You knew the Ref would give it as he had been hassled by the Arse players after the earlier penno shout.

Overall we were beaten by the better team. With 11 men they would have beaten us I reckon. We couldn't handle their movement off the ball.

Overall we were beaten by the better team. With 11 men they would have beaten us I reckon. We couldn't handle their movement off the ball. yep, we were beaten by the (much) better side, and sometimes people have to accept that. If we could even read a fraction of the 'How to retain the ball the Arsenal way' book, we'd come on leaps and bounds (but we don't have the players/mentality) - that's not a criticism. I detest them as a club/side, their management and some of their players. Their disregard for their stricken colleague in favour of their hounding of Ryan spoke volumes. Cretins. They will win fuck all, in that I will take some comfort after yesterday.
