it was not a POOR challenge.
Mistimed maybe, but poor means intent to me and there was none there.

You are splitting hairs Bunny. I didn't think he meant intent at all and I doubt if many neutral listeners will think he meant intent.

POOR means not very good, and it certainly wasn't very good. No mal-intent but definitely a POOR challenge.

I hope we appeal it. It was never in a million years a red card.

It was barely anything more than a fucking accident. That abysmal human being who manages Arsenal should hang is head in shame. Like tone I don't give tuppence for us views on anything. He is a pitiful excuse of a man.

Wenger is a classless tosser. He continues to spot venomous bile against anything he doesn't like without censure. Tone should have jawed the cunt.

Wasn't it poor on both of the players part??? You look at the stills and they are both attacking the ball with their legs raised to kick through the ball and, unfortunately, Ramsey comes off worse.

I agree there was no ill-intent but it WAS a poor challenge and had it been the other way around I KNOW exactly what the reaction would have been on here.

If you think what Beattie said was enough to incur a naked flying headbutt, Wenger should feel for his life when TP catches up with him!

I hope we appeal it. It was never in a million years a red card. I very much doubt that we will appeal it bayern. You're right it wasn't a red card but I distinctly got the feeling watching the interview with Pulis that we wont be making an appeal against the sending off.

It would be pointless Paul and do us more harm in the long run both in terms of inviting more criticism and in the fact that Ryan would probably get an extra match ban for a 'frivilous' appeal.

I don't care if it may upset the Arsenal fairies or isn't the decent thing to do. The ref made the wrong decision and if the FA have any balls/common sense they would recind it.

Interesting..Rory in the interview on Radio Stoke after the match said the ref only sent Ryan off because his leg was broken...can anyone give me a rational explanation for this?

Don't think it was a red card, but I don't think Ryan will be in the right frame of mind to play for a few weeks at least anyway. Need to get Abdy and Higgy fit

But bayern, they don't and they wouldn't and I think we all know that so there's no way the club will embarrass itself for the rest of the football world to call us 'insensitive'. we'll accept Ryan's card because there isn't a ref on the planet that wouldn't have sent him off.

We have to leave this due to decency.
Ryan slid in, but Ramsay clearly jumped in with both feet in the air.

I guess it's comes down to not whether the original decision is right or wrong but rather whether you expect to win the appeal. There's no point in making an appeal if you think there's a pretty good chance that you wont win. It's not right but unfortunately that is the most important factor to consider before lodging an appeal.

I don't give a shit what they think. It's not insensitive we are protecting one of our best players from unjust criticism and an unjust ban. It didn't warrant a red card and should be appealed. And if what Walton says is correct then it makes the decision to rescind it even easier. It may be insensitive but fuck it, we need to protect our interests. Personally I'd be warming the lawyers up.

Don't agree at all doz, the mackem challenge on Rory went unpunished and virtually every week you see much worse leg breaking challenges which don't cause injury but go unpunished.
Having said that, we have too much class to appeal but the fact that Capello has still picked him gives you a real barometer on the challenge.
If what Rory said about the the refs comments are accurate then I find them fucking staggering.

bayern: I'm not disagreeing with the logic of your comments but I agree with Paul S that the main premis for an appeal has to be the likelihood of winning it. A bloke has suffered an horrific injury and there is no way on God's earth that an appeals panel will overturn the red card. We've all been watching replays and its STILL unclear exactly how the injury was caused so it's hardly surprising that the referee (who had one chance to make a decision) comes in for criticism. He doesn't from me because (although I disgree with the red card) I can well understand why he showed it. I heard the interview with Rory and he did NOT say that the referee told him that he didn't send him off for the challenge (people are adding that bit on for themselves). He DID say (according to Rory) that he sent him off because of the extent of the injury. That's rather different to how some are reading it. Only he knows what he meant by that. I think it was pretty much an accident caused by a 'poorly timed' challenge and lacked any ill-intent on Ryan's part. However, I can well understand the referee's actions evn if I disagre with them. What is certain is that he will not change his mind, and he will be fully supported by the powers that be so any appeal would be futile. It would also make us look like the thuggish cunts we have been painted and I actuall DO care that we are not seen in that light. I believe that Coates and Pulis will care also.

I don't disagree with you mate. I know the media shouldn't have any influence over any appeal but the reality is that they DO. If Hansen and Shearer had said that it was a 50/50 ball, Ramsey was just unlucky and no way should Ryan have been sent off, then that would have influenced public opinion, other media sources and ultimately the appeal panel. But they didn't ... and at best I think their comments will ensure that Ryan doesn't get any more than a three match ban. All utter bollox ... but all extremely likely, in my humble opinion.

It doesn't matter that he has suffered the injury though. The tackle is where the decision is to be made and the tackle was a yellow card at most. His leg snapping in two was just an accident and accidents happen.
And we look like thuggish cunts anyway, Wengers comments have seen to that. I'd appeal the red and sue that French cunt for slander. I really would. His actions today have been totally and we should make him pay imo.
