It's impossible to make comparisons in my opinion.
I am grateful to both for the outstanding work they have done for my club.

Got to agree with that Smudge. Old enough to watched all the Waddo era and I would never want to choose. Different times - different styles but both have made me immensely proud to be a Stoke supporter.
And to those who are critical of out current style - some very succesful teams (Leeds/Arsenal) have had similar criticism of their style/tactics. Not aware of any rule that says you have to play in a way to make the likes of Wenger or Mancini happy!!

Impossible to say.
TP has done well with Coates' backing. Waddo was never able to spend stupid money on players, and built his side in much the same way as TP had to in the lower leagues.
However, Waddo worked in an era when it was still possible for lesser teams to take a shot at the big prizes. The opportunity for a club like Stoke to win title disappeared not long after the inception of the PL, and Portsmouth aside, nobody outside the big four has won the FA Cup in yonks.

Still Waddo for me but Pulis is up there. It's a more fitting comparison than the Pulis/Macari threads as Pulis ranks way above Lou now.
