Club skipper Dominic Matteo has been put back into cold storage for a few days after aggravating his long-term foot injury during last night's comeback game for City's reserves. But manager Tony Pulis is confident the former Liverpool star remains on course to eventually add his experience to the promotion cause over the next three months.
Matteo played the full 90 minutes - his first action for more than three months - in last night's 2-0 defeat to Wolves at Telford.
"He felt his foot a little bit right at the end of the game," Pulis reported today, "so we'll keep him off it for the next couple of days. We are hoping that will settle him down.
"We need a bit more experience like his for when the games really start taking shape, so it was nice to see him playing again.
"Dominic will want to play and he will certainly give us another option. You need experienced players who've seen it and done it before."
Meanwhile, Pulis has not ruled out an interest in Portsmouth striker Dave Nugent following his decision to turn his back on a loan move to Ipswich.
"I don't know what's happened with Ipswich, but if we're going to do business then we'll do it with Portsmouth.
"If there's an area where we need another player, then it is up front."

He's part of the team that laid the foundations for this seasons promotion push so he doesn't deserve that sort of slagging Gary.

Sorry he's struggling and agree with with bringback said... but I can't honestly see what he's going to offer us in the last 10 except maybe as a sub to shore things up. He wasn't the quickest to start with and I just can't see him getting match sharp, as well as fit, in time tbh.

He has had too many injuries over the last few years and is now too old now to have any chance of getting his match fitness back for this league. He was only signed as a stop gap when we had no midfield last summer now we have 4 better players ahead of him.
Dont want to be harsh on him but he will be well paid and a drain on the clubs finances when the harsh truth is he isnt good enough anymore.

He hasn't been the greatest player for us, but he is a tremendous influence within the dressing room. He is an experienced head, who is also extremely versatile.
He could be important in our final few games.
Last night he was doing fine (fitness wise- the game passed him by to be honest) but went in for a tackle in stoppage time and immediately winced.
Would be a shame if we lost him as we need all the bodies we can get!

He was part of the side that got us off to a surprisingly good start. He is club captain of a dressing room widely accepted to have an outstanding spirit and say what you like, he never put in a performance half was as dog shit in the middle as Salif's last two starts!
