He's a smart, intelligent guy ain't he . .. . "I would expect Delap to be far more eective at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday than in the FA Cup tie. Ten of the 11 goals he has set up in the past two seasons from his throws have come at home. Taking 30 seconds to dry the ball with the towel also adds to the throw-in frenzy. And while the ball is being dried, the fans get louder and the defenders become more nervous as they wait anxiously." Nothing to do with any of this bollocks - the plain fact is we have the joint narrowest pitch and City have the widest . . . that's rocket science to footballer!

I find it quite amusing that some of the press et al, are still looking at us a one dimensional lump it forward and get a throw in team, yes we do use the longthrow and we do it bloody well, but there's a lot more to Stoke's style these days, and it suits me fine that some teams have still the same mindset about us , hopefully that will work in our favour

Don't forget to pack a towel Rory, City won't be supplying one!

Perhaps Arsene should just take a look at what the other 18 Premier League clubs are doing to defend against the throw, because Arsenal seem to be the only remaining side that can't deal with it!

"City are well equipped to defend the throw-ins because they have tall players. They’ll have Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Adebayor, Joleon Lescott, Kolo Toure and a few others
As opposed to everyone in our team bar Etherington and Tuncay being 6fters or built like brick shithouses. Even then, Ethers can hit it pretty well from outside the box if a clearance doesn;t get all the way, and Tuncay's pretty useful in the air.

Tuncay is 6ft ain't he?
I am sure I read it and was surprised he was that tall as I always thought he was shorter than that.

I hope we win 1-0 from a throw in so much today. What has he got against double 'f's'?

The smaller players like Fuller will nip in. He's 6'2" isn't he ;D ;D
Mama is brilliant in these situations. He occupies 2,3,4 or even 5 defenders.

I like this sort of article, it rebuilds the fear factor surrounding the throw-ins. All of a sudden the hysteria has died down and now Martin Keown is jumping out shouting "AAARRRGH THIRTY EIGHT MILES PER HOUR NIGGLES VARIATION PANIC STATIONS AHOY" ;D
I can't see it causing much trouble at Eastlands, but at home it should at the very least be good for piling on some pressure. Nice to see he's actually done some research about how windy the ground is as well ;D

Looks like Man City are still struggling then! But then they generally struggle defensively, on the ground or in the air!

Ah. But Ric was being "marked" by Toure who has obviously learnt everything he knows about defending from Arsene.
