A late Greenhoff goal gave Stoke a 1.0 win 4th round February 1976. Remember an amazing mental and one of the best atmospheres ever at the Vic. Was anyone else on here at the match that day?

I was there Louis!
If I remember correctly, Pej was sent off for nutting Dennis Tueart! This was after ripping his shirt off, Tueart gave it him, and Pej chucked it in the Boothen Paddock!! (I Think) lol

So was I. This was the first ever Stoke City match I attended and, as you say, louis, the atmosphere that night was awesome. The Boothen was heaving and the smell of fags, beer, sweat and farts was addictive. There was no looking back after that!!! Some great singing, too. And we won!!!

And it was flipping cold that night. The game and the result warmed us up.

Those games agianst the mancs in the 70s were awesome....i think 38,000 the crowd?....some debates a few years ago on the old Oatcake site reckoned a game against city in the early 70s may have drawn over 60,000 as the ground couldnt account for the number of fans, they brought over 20,000

The throwing Tuearts shirt in the crowd one was when we beat them 4-0 in 74/75 and Hudson walked on water. Well, mud actually!!

There was a League cup game we were 2-0 down after the first leg. We came back with two goals from Ray Evans and Lee Chapman, both in the last 10 minutes and it went to Extra time ans penalties. Sadly we lost- Peter Griffiths missing our tenth penalty :-(
The 3-1 win when they brought 12000 was John Butler's debut I think. Nigel Gleghorn gave them the lead.

Went that match when we lost 2-0 at Maine road, did'nt they keep us in the stadium 20 or 30 mins after the match also.

Yep, I was stood on the old uncovered Stoke End
Didn't Greenhoff have one chalked off for punching it into the net?

Elton Welsby said on TV it was the worst performance he'd ever seen from a Stoke side that night. We were truly dire
