One of his best games in the red and white today - his delivery and corners were second to none.
Who else is there down the left producing what Ethers is that can pull on an England shirt?

if he played for one of the big clubs he would definitely make the squad,not sure about the first eleven

James Milner is a little better than ethers but not many others. Stewart Downing is about the same.
I should imagine they will play someone out of position to accomodate them. A midfield like:
LM Milner CM Barry CM Lampard RM Gerrard

I agree, like you say Ethers has one big disadvantage - he plays for little, unfashionable, bully-boys Stoke - not a chance for England, no matter how well he plays.
Would love to see it though !!

There is no better left sided english player around than matty , he is playing out of his skin , he should be getting more attention than he is , Arsenal could not handle him today. Fact !

I personally thought that his final balls were a bit poor today - especially after watching it again. He just didn't seem to find a Stoke player often enough. His runs on and off the ball are amazing though and if he can get a bit more consistency with his crosses etc then there is no reason, other than playing for a 'small club', for him not to make the England squad.

He's been brilliant this season so why not better than Downing in my opinion perhaps Lennon and Young might be better but not my much and I'd say Ethers has a better final ball than Lennon.
