Medicins Sans Frontieres consistently do the most important work when disaster strikes, please support what they're doing in Haiti if you possibly can. This makes our small problems pale into insignificance, your donation however small will certainly save lives and families. www.msf.org.uk/haitiappeal.aspx

Is this honestly all the people who've donated or have you done it through other appeals? Sorry if I seem to spend my whole life rattling a tin and if some would prefer to support causes closer to home I respect that but it really isn't an exaggeration that every £1 will help save a life or a future in Haiti. Not sure if you lot are getting similar pictures to us over here but the "60 minutes" program last night was showing a JCB/John Deere clearing bodies from the street next door to what's left of the hospital and just dumping them in a truck ready for transportation to a hole in the ground. The doctor spoke of it as reminiscent of the holocaust. Estimates of dead are now over 150k. The armed forces of Canada and the US are on the ground apparently but all infrastructure is knackered. Everyone has a political opinion but watching that knocked me sick last night. They lived in a shithole that none of us in the western world could have understood before, how the hell can they cope without help from us now?

This may sound harsh, But would they help us if that happened to us? Erm no, therefore thats my views and im not donating. Us as a country are in enough shit as it is, without helping others.

We're near the top of the international capitalist tree. They're almost at the very bottom. We profit directly and indirectly from that. Many Haitians live in shanties. They've got low life expectancy even before this. They've got disposable incomes so low that they've completely off the scale in UK terms. The average per capita income in Haiti is £279 PER YEAR. Now can you see why a donation of £5 or £10 makes such a real difference? What would that buy in the pub again?? How the fucking hell would they be in a position to help us?? Jesus. That is seriously the most naive, ignorant, arrogant post I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

Sal, if you think thats the most naive, ignorant, arrogant posts youve read you havent read the post on the edl ! My spare pennies go to oxfam and shelter so I wont be sending anything other to the appeal, Oxfam will be doing their best with me farthings. Sadly there are more of these morons with no education posting on here, hence I have kept away for a few years, decided to give some shit back now though. Whilst we are on the subject how come the palestinians aint given no money to the Donna Louise for years, bloody selfish buggers!!!!!!

They have had 100,000 men women and children killed, hundreds of thousands homeless and a couple of million people with almost no future. Yes, we are in enough shit as it is. We might have to have a bit of jam on our toast for brekky in the morning instead of caviar and settle for a beefburger at the match for dinner tomorrow. OS.

The scale of the devastation is only getting worse as time goes on, the price of one round of drinks is going to make a massive, massive difference so please, if you're not sick of hearing the sound of people rattling their tins, this one is so important!
