I'm actually starting to like Marcotti, is there something wrong with me?? Yes, I'm afraid there is ! Marcotti is trying to get to grips with British "soccer" beyond Manchester United and Arsenal but sadly with no grounding in the game in this country he remains a straight "Big 4" man at heart for me.

According to Wiki born in Italy but raised in Chicago, Poland, Germany, New York and Japan. A Chelsea season ticket holder...and if that doesn't put you off Sal by the look of his photo he has eaten way too much pasta

Do we really not have a better person to talk about our beloved game than an american. His comments on radio 5 on a friday night often show a lack of understanding of the english game, and leave me with a feeling of depair

I don't agree with that. He always seems very well-informed about all aspects of the game, including the smaller clubs. He's quite an original thinker, as well. I like him, too - but not in a man-love kind of way

Marcotti is posibly the most knowledgeable pundit in the British media these days
picked up on Stoke changing our style last season (when Mama 1st got imjured) way before most Stoke fans (inc me)
he can be arrogant however he really knows his stuff

Trevor ('Down with the kids, Mr R&B etc etc') Nelson presents a show on Rugby League!? What qualifies him to do that - I mean Spoonie is a London-born Liverpool supporter (yes, one of those) - tenuous enough, but I've never heard of any connection between TN and rugger league? Does he have an aunty from St. Helens or something?

Marcotti always comes across as a bit of a dick but at the same time he knows his football and he's always worth listening to. Then again that could say more about me than him.

I think he does a good job of sounding like he knows what he's talking about, which is probably due in no small part to him being a bit of a statto. I get the impression that he acquires much of his "knowledge" about teams from what's written in the press, as I've often heard him regurgitating the type of crap that's been written about Stoke over the last two or three years. During our promotion season, he was on Five Live one Friday evening lambasting Pulis as a disgrace to football, and when pushed on it, had to admit that he'd not even seen us play that season. Disliked him ever since.
